However, I still think it would be easier than doing the LSAT,

I was having a Melbourne Model induced career consideration the other day and looked at the LSAT...thought it was actually not that bad :P

These options are listed in (what I believe to be) order of desirability.

Go to Monash; do science, arts, commerce, business, performing arts, or music. Get good marks (78+ average as a rough guide). Transfer into law 2nd year.

Go to Deakin; do law; get very good marks; transfer to Monash law. AFAIK you will get some credit.

Go to Deakin; do law; get very good marks + lots of experience. Graduate with Deakin law degree.

Go to Melbourne; get very good marks; transfer to Monash law 2nd year.

Go to VU law; get extremely good marks; transfer to Monash law 2nd year. You will not get credit (afaik) i.e. you will have to repeat first year law.

Go to any uni. Study butt off for LSAT. Do JD. Quite risky unless you are prepared to accept that you may not end up with a law degree at all.

I think there's also a pathway which is something like Bachelor of Criminal Justice at some private college --> Bachelor of Laws and you get some credit too. I don't know how it works though. I know someone doing this so if you're really that interested in this pathway I can ask her for you.

anywho this is all I can think of atm

I am aware that there has been a strong shift in the Monash law faculty against taking external transfers. There was a memo up on the website a while back, I couldn't find it now but it basically was explaining the transfer process for 2010 - and stressing that there preference is to give places to year 12 students (growing demand etc) and I believe from memory it mentioned that they are unlikely to take graduates. People I know who have been on committees etc have said that the law faculty will only take 1 or 2 external transfers.

Therefore my advice is, if you want to transfer into law do something at Monash as they are still taking internal transfers but at a smaller rate than in the past and aim to get 80%+ average for a chance of getting one.

A quick question in regards to law, specifically arts/law at Monash...

I do not have the clearly-in enter of 98.2, but in terms of middle band my score will go up to 98.15. In saying that, are my chances of getting in quite high or still unlikely?

AW: I'd say you have a legitimate chance - but lot's of factors will come into play - for example has the enter gone up or down etc

Can someone confirm this? If that's the case, I'll need a major rethink on my pathways into law, because my first few options involve transferring to monash law one way or another.

If you can't get straight into law at Monash, and desperately want to study there, it seems like the best option would be to do arts/commerce/science, get the marks and transfer from there.
