Ok, so I did NOT see this coming but somehow I'm Dux of my school...it's great and all but I need a speech :(

What does a typical Dux speech comprise of?

Anyone got a speech prepared they want to share? :P

I don't have a speech to share haha but I know that our school, the speech, which is presented to the following years 10's, 11's and 12's usually consists of what helped them through, their joys and just how they generally survived etc

2009-2010: VET Multimedia | Methods CAS | English | Legal Sudies | National Politics | Accounting | VET IT

2011-2013: BBIS at Monash - IBL Stream

Semester 1: Principles of Accounting & Finance | Computer Programming | Business Information Analysis | Intro. to Business Information Systems

My school dux(es) don't even have to speak, they just come back the year after to collect some prizes at the "prize-giving" assembly. My school just reads out their achievements (i.e. study scores, sports etc).

If I was doing a speech, I'd play it safe - thank teachers, the school - then talk about how you went about approaching VCE/Year 12, what worked for you etc. How long are you planning to speak for? LOL.

Probs 2-3 minutes is what is expected. I'll thank everyone, should I offer advice to Year 11s?

And no, I'm oldschool, I'm going to say VCENOTES :d

Yes, offer advice.. although unfortunately they probably won't listen.

Not probably. The majority will definitely not listen.

- Joke
- Explain how being balanced is important - example.
- Explain your study methods.
- Joke
- ATAR Notes as a good resource. Plug it, if it comes from Dux, students who care will at least LOOK at it.
- Explain that VCE is not the end of the world.
- Thank school.
- Fist pump.
