Would you recommend NEAP for chemistry?
« on: December 26, 2010, 11:05:15 am »

Hi,
So I was thinking about going to Neap chemistry session  which is on Wednesday the 12th, going from 9:00am - 4:30pm.
I've never been to one of these before, however, the NEAP tests and exams have always been a fun challenge.
Would anyone recommend going to these, or perhaps any others? I really DONT want to go to TSFX though!
Thanks :D

I have never gone to Neap chemistry, but Neap Legal was very very very good. There was only like 20 people in the class and the lecturer was amazing and there was heaps of interaction.

Cool, thanks!
Would you guys recommend it for english? My parents are bugging me a lot... But I don't think that big lectures could be good for english as english is a very broad subject and students have different needs... what could they possibly teach?
So do any of you people plan to go to the NEAP Chemistry lecture, or do you just recommend it?

I probably won't go to NEAP Chemistry this time. I've got hectic schedule in January as it is. You should go though.

I've been to English lectures in the past. It's really just general advice on how to tackle the different types of essays. As well other things such as expression, vocabulary and so on.

As you say, English is a broad subject and it's the lecture with the most people in it. The lecturer can't really be text-specific as students come from different schools and read different texts. Hence, it's more general advice on English than anything.

I know that the NEAP books are a part of my school's yr 12 booklist (for chem obviously) so I guess they must be good?

They are probably one of the best, if not, the best. Their books and guides are very good and there are less mistakes, if any, in NEAP guides than in other ones like Checkpoints, TSSM etc.

I went to one or two lectures by NEAP this year and they were good. For all intensive purposes, go for yourself and then you can judge whether it's good or not. I've also got NEAP down as part of my school's book-list for a few subjects.

Don't waste your money on an English lecture, Chem maybe. To improve English maybe get a tutor from VN for a couple of lessons (will come to same price but personalised) and practice (shameless plug: Essay Marking board).

If you want an english lecture/crash course, try Shinny's english program, I hear nothing but positive reviews of it.

TSFX I always get mixed reviews
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.
