Damo: i wouldn't be so forgiving for SS predictions... those subjects are VERY competitive...

those scores would probably be possible if the grades were mainly high A+ (about 11% are awarded A+, and about 10% get 40+)

Thanks, I forgot to take that into account. Amended now.

How bout this loser?

Hey are there more study score calculations on VCAA? I want to see what sort of standard score corresponds to what sort of study score.

Edit: found it, although on the other example it states 2.05 as 47, and I know someone whose results would have given them around 2 and they got 50, even though they were just less than two standard deviations off the mean. I guess it depends on subject and year, and even more calculations are required afterwards. But from that it seems like a 45 would be around 1.75...

Is it possible to get a 41 or 42 in psych with these grades
40 people doing psych this year and about the same last year

11 people got 40+, and my teacher says this year is a smarter cohort

UNIT 3
Brain and Nervous System SAC: 95% (estimated ranking for this sac, top 5?)
Visual Perception ERA SAC: 100% + Test SAC 94% (estimation ranked top 3 in this SAC)
Sleep SAC: 82 % :( estimation Ranked about 14th to 16th for this sac :()

UNIT 3 Midyear Examination Grade:
A (81.5/90), (A+ grade was 82/90)... confirmed exam ranking: 9th out of 40

UNIT 4
Memory SAC: 85% (estimation around 12th out of 40)
Learning SAC :(:(: 82% (ranked like 15th :()
Research Designs SAC: 100% (1st out of 40 :D, first time I came on top, beat someone who dropped 2 marks on the midyear!)

UNIT 4 Midyear Examination Grade:
What would I need here to get over 41 raw? I'm presuming a Mid to High A+?

The only thing I found was Study Score Example I from the same document you got that from, that was what I was looking for. For anyone else just google "Study Score Example II" I think that's how I found it.

While you can use grades to guess study scores <40, pretty much >40 all get A+ A+ A+ so it would be useful to find out the difference between them. That's why I tried to work out how much your standard score needs to be; problem is not many people seem to get the SoM for their final VCE results (as a source for what standard score is what study score)
