Ah damn I'm on a Mac. But if I can find an alternative and the program's as good as you make it out to be, I might start typing up my notes from now on.

Yeah, I got it along with Word/Excel/Powerpoint 2010, and checked it out out of curiosity.

It very nearly converted me to typing notes, and I'm a firm believer in handwritten ones. :D

I agree with iNerd as Handwrite should be far slower for most people (no idea how it could be faster o-o) - that in itself will definitely help remember it as you write out things that your brain can take longer to go over rather then mindless typing.

real science subjects like chem, which require a lot of formula writing are probably better by hand, even for me and I'm pretty quick with Word 10 shortcuts. But theory subjects its good to have clearly written notes and the comp can be very quick for that.

As for formatting, on word, if you do bullet points and use headings & tab you get neat notes which are clearly set out and quick to use (look at any of the notes I uploaded).

im only doing yr 11 so i am by no means an expert but...

i have typed up notes/summary of AOS 1 for both p.e and b/m this year, as more of a summary/notes to study type of thing in case i dont have time to handwrite, but when i do handwrite, it will probably be closer to the sacs (as i find it helps me remember the information) and will have more clear, precise and information i either stuggle with or i feel will be a major part of the SAC

hope that made sense

For me, I handwrite and type my notes. I usually handwrite if I'm taking a small amount of notes but if it's a copious amount, I resort to typing them because my hand gets sore after a while. I can type and write quite fast so I guess either method is fine by me. It depends on what suits you the most.

handwrite. I don't understand how people type notes. I tried it for legal and only managed about half of unit 3. You can't add little arrows and symbols and shorthand so it never turns out as well as handwritten.

Also... this topic seems to spring up every 6 months or so on this forum. Handwriting always wins :D

Writing by hand definately helps for some subjects. For example if you are doing a mind map on the computer it can be a very tedious process if you are making a large one for say characters in a text or how the energy systems work.
By hand can also be done at any time and as a spur of a moment too which can help with your memory of it too.

I've never written notes by hand (except methods in y11) because i get lazy very easily, so typing for me was a much faster option, saving hours (even with practice essays i would type it out :/). In saying this i didn't write notes for English language, further or accounting so my opinion doesn't mean much
