Having numerous mid-year exams?

Anyone care to offer any advice as to how to approach Year 12 with multiple mid-years?

I have 3 mid-years:
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics

My tutor's told me that its going to be really difficult in preparing for 3 mid-years on top of the SACs that come with them and my other 2 subjects. With that in mind, I've started to worry a bit since I still have yet to get started on holiday homework.

How do I prepare for them?
What kind of mindset should I have?

I also thought having this thread would appeal to other VNers who have a few mid-years and are in the same boat as me.

So any words of wisdom would very much be appreciated!

.. i wouldnt purposely do bad in a subject. but i would spend less effort on the ones i dont enjoy.. and aim high for the subjects you can potentially excel in.

I wouldnt get worried just yet. If youre prepared there shouldnt be anything to worry about.
First of all i would finish your holiday hw. then start preparing/studying for chem/bio/physics before school starts.
Stay on top of homework throughout the semester and revise regularly. A few weeks before the exam, you shuold know which subjects you would do better in, say they're chem and bio. I would then study more on those, during the exam prep period but aat the same time not neglect physics. If youve revised regularly for physics then you may find that you wont need to spend too much time on it.

I feel like its kind of a bad attitude to purposely put less effort and time into a subject.. doesnt feel 'honourable'..

I have 2 mid-year exams this year (Chemistry and Physics) and I'd imagine that many people doing mid year exams would have 2 or more exams as well. My advice for you would just to organize your study time very well and prepare well before the exams to allow flexibility for SACs and whatnot to study for. Just remember that many people are also in the same boat as you and realize that this is an opportunity for you to shine.

As for your other question: It's really just a matter of what you want to do. I am personally not focusing on Physics and Methods as much as my other 4 subjects as I plan for them to be my bottom 2 subjects as I aim for an ATAR of 99.00. But if you're aiming for high 99s then every point counts so really you shouldn't. It all depends on whether you want to take a strategic approach or concentrate all your efforts evenly. In the end, as long as you study hard enough, it's likely for you to not go wrong either way. Just don't get too hung up over what you want to get and concentrate on studying rather than your study scores.

yeah well if youre looking for a higher ATAR then you want your top4 to be much higher in comparison to your bottom 2.
eg. 43+ in your top 4 and 34s in your bottom 2 would usually yeild a higher score than say 40s in all your subjects.

I think you've misunderstood the OP's option. He wouldn't purposely do poorly in a subject ie, making wrong answers knowing he was doing so. All that would happen is that he takes the class a little less seriously and use the time that he would normally spend on one subject, working on the others.

Yes I don't at all mean purposely writing ridiculous answers or anything.

I mean purposely concentrating more of my time and effort into other subjects (to consequently have them score higher towards the aggregate) as opposed to a different subject (to have it in the bottom 2 subjects).
Don't get me wrong, I'd still try to do well in a subject I've purposely "neglected".

Yeah never heard any mention of that. Ive heard of people doing 3 maths subjects so I dunno..

at most two results can contribute to the Primary Four

at most three results can contribute to the ENTER, be they VCE results, Extension Study results, or VET results.
