the most important VCE tip I received...

I was thinking about how anxious I was about year 12 and VCE starting this time last year, and I remembered the most important VCE tip I received from a friend who had just completed year 12.  I thought I should share it with you guys, although you've probably already heard this a million times.  Don't neglect English, treat it as the most important subject (okay, but don't neglect others of course)!
2009:
Mathematical Methods CAS- 50
2010:
English- 50
French- 50
Specialist Maths- 50
Chemistry- 49
Physics- 43
UMEP Mathematics- 5.5
ATAR: 99,95

2013: MBBS III @ Monash (Alfred!!~)

True.

But having said that, I'm sure most people would agree that English is probably one of the hardest subjects to 'study' for and to improve on.

True, it does seem like that, but I guess that's what I'm trying to get at.  I had that mindset in year 10/11, but I think one can improve a lot (speaking from experience) and I hope others can get out of that mindset...

I don't think english is harder to study for, it's just that you have to study in a different way to other subjects. There's no 'must learn' things in english that you shouldn't already know by year 11 and I think that a lot of the rest of it is quite simply just thinking and exploring. It's a more personalised subject in a way I think.

Soon you would get the hang of it. I was like that too, you'll start to recycle ideas and it won't seem too hard any more.
Ancient Persian Proverb; " I Wept because i had no Shoes, until i saw a man with no feet!"

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.

Different people have different strengths and interests.

Some are scientifically-catered, others may be more interested into linguistics or literature.

It all depends on the individual. :]

After some VN members' shocking/suprising study scores, wouldn't the most important tip be to not neglect your SACs?

I used to think SACs didn't matter until this(last) year's post-exam results and now I'm set ;)

I can't say if that is the most important - everyone would have a different 'most important', imo, but it's definitely up there. SACs do make a difference, from what I experienced last year.

I will back up ATAR in saying that SACs help immensely.  Anyone who's seen my statement of marks know that in some ways, my SAC marks (200/200 for English) saved my comparatively lackluster exam.  At the same time though, don't freak out about a tiny tiny SAC or something if you happen to lose a mark on it - there's lots of opportunities to make up for everything, so just keep everything in perspective.

Also, fuzzylogic's point is null if you do both English and Lit.   >.>  Guess which subject I took more seriously? :p
