Dan Lim's tutoring :)

 Daniel's Tutoring

Background info

I recently graduated from Melbourne High School, and completed English, Methods, Specialist Maths, Physics, Japanese SL and Geography in Year 11.

The summer holidays may be drawing to a close but there is still a lot you can learn in a few weeks and I aim to try to help you get a headstart into your VCE Mathematics studies.

Having graduated with an ATAR of 98.90, with 48 scaled in both Specialist Maths and Maths Methods (42 and 45 raw respectively), I believe I have the ability to successfully teach both subjects and drive you towards a very good study score (provided you put in the effort yourself too!  ;D)

I am currently offering tuition in the following subjects:

Year 9 and 10 Maths
VCE Methods Units 1-4
VCE Specialist Maths Units 1-4

My main aim is not to get you all 50s (though that would be nice  ::)) , It is to get you to achieve the best result you possibly can and give that extra boost that may get you those few extra points that count towards your ATAR.

For my students I provide self-typed notes as well as self written tests, as I am a strong believer in writing original content for my students and these are generally of a higher standard than that of most books.  Despite this, I am more than willing to hand out resources and have a very large collection available for use, as well plenty of past exams and questions which I believe will help you gain the best mark possible.

My tutoring locations are fairly flexible, within reason of course, I reside in Glen Waverley and are able to teach in nearby suburbs.  I am also studying Commerce at Melbourne University this year and hence are available upon request at locations such as State Library/one of the libraries at Melbourne University.

It is natural to feel a bit apprehensive about a new tutor's techniques and to allay these fears I offer a free trial lesson which lasts for 1 hour (although I do have a tendency to go over the 1 hour mark).

I generally would charge 25 per hour for Unit 1/2 Subjects and 30 per hour for Unit 3/4 subjects although if it is a group booking I am more than willing to negotiate.  (please note that if you do live a very long way away a charge may apply).  As it is holidays now times are very much negotiable and I am very flexible.

A sample copy of a linear functions test I wrote is available below (for Unit 1/2).

Any inquiries/interest PM me or email me at [email protected].

Best of luck in your studies!

Known this guy for about 4 years now, and I must say that he's definitely one of the friendliest and knowledgeable guys that I know. He's very sociable, easy to talk to, works very hard, and is of course good at maths, which I think composes of the main qualities required for tutoring. Also rest assured that he will have a virtually unlimited supply of questions and tasks, so it will definitely be worth your money.

He got the highest score in our Methods class (all our sacs were low A+/A's due to poor marking), which probably indicates that he did extremely well on the exam. He's also been the go to guy for a lot of questions in Methods and Spesh, so definitely endorsed
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.

On new years day I got smashed and constantly asked this kid to make out with me.

Why?

Because he's so good at everything.
2009: Psychology
2010: Physics, Chemistry, Methods, Specialist Maths, English
ATAR: Go away
2011: BComm@Unimelb
20XX: Some faggot that exploits you for your money.
21XX: Dancing on your grave.

I've known this guy for about four years now and he is definitely someone worth being taught by.  Very laidback, very friendly and very very smart.
For the majority of the time that I knew him, he was the kid that I'd bombard with school questions.  Not just related to maths, but every other subject that we did, because he is one of the best all-rounders I have ever met.
Will not be a waste of your time to have him as a tutor.

I’ve been in his maths classes over the years and he’s definitely one of the smartest guys I know. He’s extremely talented at maths – currently smashing accelerated maths at uni. He’s also very friendly and a great communicator, which is exactly what you want in a tutor.

He’s offering a free trial lesson  :), which I haven’t seen many tutors do.

HIGHY RECOMMENDED and definitely worth your time!  ;D

ENDORSED LIKE HELL :D

This guy was a great study buddy in class and definitely has the right amount of humour and good personality to get along whoever you are. His intelligence isn't just about how much he knows, but also the insight that you need to get through math courses.

DEFINITELY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED because he is a bawss :D

Dan Lim has been a good friend of mine for years now, he's constantly playing down his true intelligence for a reason I can't figure out. Apart from his knowledge and great communication skills, this guy is one of the few people I know who's actually passionate about Maths, a quality that makes a great tutor.

So it's a big fat ENDORSED from me  ;D

...and oh, I should mention that he's also off the scale in terms of 'coolness'
