an idea
« on: January 21, 2011, 04:48:03 pm »
I was thinking before, that there are members here who are obviously doing yr 12 this year....

but we dont know how many exactly, so how about putting a couple of polls into the vce notes discussion area and getting people to tick which subjects they are doin this year, not only so we know who is doing what so far, but so we know if there are subjects which have no demand whatsoever right now.
goals
nat pol = 42+
international studies = 30+
Engrish = 30+
Legal studies = who cares

There are VCE and subject roll calls that you could collate.
Why do you want to do this?

be interesting to see what is in huge demand and what isnt. so then at least Dan and Nina would then know sorta like statistical the history/present of vce students who come on here.

Don't think it'd work too well. The majority of VN users don't post. What we see happening in the forum is hardly representative of the scope of the traffic that goes through here. The top 10 boards summarises it pretty well though:

General VCE Discussion      37280
Mathematical Methods CAS      29593
Chemistry      17998
English & ESL      17750
Sweet Nothings      15196
Specialist Mathematics      12156
University of Melbourne      8995
ATAR (ENTER)/SAT/SAC - Technical Discussion      8499
Physics      8487
General University Discussion

Well...with the exception of Sweet Nothings perhaps...

YR12 '08: Chemistry 47; Spesh 41; Methods 49; Business Management 50; English 43

Yeah good idea but not too long or people will get pissed off and might quit the sign-up process.

AHHHHHH I'm having a bad day. About 10 minutes ago I hit modify instead of quote, got distracted and then edited over a member's post (luckily it was insignificant).
Now I did the same over a mod's! Sorry!!!!

It's okay. We forgive you.

A poll would probably yield better results than the roll calls for this reason:

The majority of VN users don't post.

Members can like... lurk-vote... they don't have to post.

*Shrugs*

Top 10 boards does yield the essential info I guess...

It's not like it'd hurt to make a poll though... just make one where people can select multiple options, and sticky it somewhere... maybe in General VCE Discussion?
