Please HELP! I am so utterly confused!

I am beginning an Arts course and have decided to do a double major. In the long run I am pretty sure that I would like to do a Masters in Law. I am trying to decide on majors and am finding it very difficult!!! I am unbelievably indecisive  :(

I have narrowed it down to:
- Politics and international studies
- Criminology
- Psychology

I also have been looking at Sociology and Philosophy because apparently they're handy in terms of preparation for the LSAT for Masters (logic, reasoning skills etc.)

Any guidance or inside knowledge would be SO MUCH APPRECIATED.

Thanks in advance  :)

Take all 3 in first year, then decide from there?

Is that even a possibility? Could you explain to me how that would work?

you have 8 subjects, take subjects from all 3 of these majors in the first year (hopefully some of them are already compulsory or something), and then decide after your first year.

Just make sure that if you do do this, that you can still major in all 3 subjects with the remaining credit points you will complete over the years
vce: english, methods, spesh, chemistry, physics, geography.

- Bachelor of Arts
Okay, thank you for that. Do you think any of the subjects I listed would be particularly useful in terms of law in the future??

You know those are completely different from institution to institution, right? If you want any useful advice, you're going to need to tell us what institution you're from...

Sorry, I don't know much about the LSAT, but I can tell you I don't know of any arts subjects which would give you any sort of advantage in studying law later... If I were you, I'd just go for the subjects which interest you the most.

If you are at a Victorian university then I don't think you can do 3 majors...

Someone I knew did a BA with masters in Psychology and Criminology; they (unsurprisingly) compliment each other.

If you are at a Victorian university then I don't think you can do 3 majors...

On one of the Ivy League websites for the Philosophy major (can't remember which), they actually do claim that people who do Philosophy tend to do better on the logic/reasoning part of the LSAT, apparently.

And you can technically do 3 majors at Melbourne if you Double Major and do a Diplang too - I know of a girl from the 2008 cohort (99.95, to be fair), who's doing this.  But yeah, generally no.  :p

Ive seen this too. There were 4-5 majors that they said helped. Literature, Philosophy.. I cant remember the website or the other majors. =\

I admit, i do not know much about the LSAT but i doubt any major will prepare you significantly better than another, since you will be doing your own private study for the LSAT (hopefully!) anyway.

If i were you, i'd pick what i enjoy, you have 3 years to do this degree, might as well do something you enjoy. Also, remember you need a high GPA (im guessing) to get into the masters course, so also pick a major you think your good at.

Picking philosophy because someone tells you will help in the LSAT but then failing it and getting a low GPA, hence not getting into the masters at all, won't help you at all. So, just pick a major you're interested in and maybe you think you'll be good at. Maybe some law related subjects will help you consider if law is really for you.
