It's cheaper to get your goggles + lab coat from encompass cos they have a deal on. But you can just borrow mine tomorrow bomb if you want. I'll be there at about 9:45.

Ah thanks man :D, I'll probably try to buy them anyway just incase we can't find each other. :)

If I was going to be there early I would offer mine but my lecture starts at 10 and I need to wait in the coffee line.

Haha see you in the coffee line, I'm an addict :|

Hey I just wanted to ask, I'm so confused about the goggles v. glasses situation.  Someone explain to me why there is a difference and which is best to have?

(And me too...caffeeeiiiinnneee).

I believe goggles are for those who have contact lenses.
If you don't wear contacts, then glasses are fine :)

I do wear contacts!  But I don't understand why goggles are necessary.
Like...aside from just general safety crap.
WILL THEY KNOW if I only have glasses at first before I go get the goggles?  WILL THEY LOOK INTO MY EYES AND SEE THE LITTLE CIRCLE?

The goggles sound so unattractive.  The word goggle... >:

It is compulsory to have the goggles on for Chem students. If you are wearing glasses, you can get these 'side-shields' which you attach to your glasses but everyone will get goggles anyway :)

Also, they are quite strict with attire - tie up long hair, button up labcoats and wear closed shoes otherwise you'll get told off ;D

Everyone wore glasses into Chem pracs last year (first years anyway), so they definitely were allowed last year. Don't know whether it's been changed this year or not, check your Lab manuals.

I wore contacts and the safety glasses and never got told off. I'm quite sure it's a safety thing, cause it's hard to wash out your eye if there's contacts on, as chemicals get trapped under the contacts. I used goggles for the first prac, but changed to glasses after that, because the goggles were annoying and kept fogging up for me.
