Oh? What other Major and minor did you have in mind? (From my first year units)

You can do Year 1 subjects in year 2 if you need to and things like that so you still might be able to swing it.

Email them and ask them, theyre pretty helpful i found.

Totally missed this! Gah. That's what you get for staying up at this hour looking at a small screened laptop.
Alrighty! Will do :)

Oh? What other Major and minor did you have in mind? (From my first year units)

Firstly, I'm assuming you don't want to do too much physics? There is a unit called physics for the living world, essentially gives some basic physics knowledge useful in biology (including some introductory optics), I'm going to guess this will satisfy your UoM requirements: http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/2011handbooks/units/PHS1031.html

However, this does mean you probably won't fit another minor in (you will still have two majors). Don't panic, minors don't really matter if you plan to have two majors.

If you want to take this option (avoid a lot of VCE-physics-esque bullcrap in first year), you will no longer fulfill the first year breadth requirement (See here: http://monash.edu/pubs/handbooks/courses/0050.html), which means you either have to pick up PHS1042, or an 'Earth process' unit (see the list in the link).

I'm also unsure about your maths background, but I doubt calculus (MTH1020) will be too useful for biological sciences. You might want to consider STA1010 (statistics, MM level) or SCI1020 (introductory statistics, pre-MM level) to fulfil your maths requirement.

Other than that, this is your bible: http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/2011handbooks/undergrad/sci-aos-clayton.html
Select your second and third year units from here. Pick a discipline and see where it takes you, and also be mentally prepared for the fact that you most probably will want to change your mind a few times in first year and second year.

http://graduate.science.unimelb.edu.au/downloads/OD-prereqs.pdf These are the approved units that can be done outside of UoM.

The following is a summary of entry requirements to the OD. Applicants will require:

*An undergraduate degree (or equivalent); and
*A first, second or third year (or equivalent) subject in physics or optics; and
*A second or third year subject (or equivalent) in anatomy or cell biology; plus
*Two additional subjects at second or third year level (or equivalent) from one or more relevant biological science disciplines.

Yeah I was thinking about a BioChem major instead of the Genetics major considering I would already have done most of the required units. But genetics just seems fun to me D: More appealing than BioChem anyways.

The green highlighted ones are the UoM requisites. (I'm having seconds thoughts with it all D: Definitely will re-evaluate it after first year)

mmm haha i never really liked genetics. biochem would be more broad based sorta and it would have genetics in it and its useful for a lot of disciplines

you could do something like this
i dunno if you want to do human pathology which looks for anatomy type based (and i found that type of thing boring)

u can still do genetics and immunology

but ur 1st year looks good, yep u could do the easy physics (and chem for that matter) pair phs1080 and phs1042... ^yep to a stats unit i did sci1020 (the easiest)

2nd year could be something like this

1st sem
-dev2011
-imm2011
-gen2041
-bch2011 (u could do mol2011 if u want but i hated mol haha)

2nd sem
-gen2052
-sci2010
-phy2032 (just to mix it up) so u still have the prereq
-dev2022 (perhaps if u want to do the 48 point double major in imm, human path depending if u like that kind of thing)

and then 3rd if u want to do straight imm and genetics

1st sem
-gen3030
-gen3051
-imm3031
-imm3051 (or hup3011 in which case u must do mol2011)

2nd sem
-gen3040
-gen3062
-imm3042
-imm3062 (or hup3022 if u want to do human path)

Have a go at filling the rest of this in (choose your disciplines), this is a fairly generic plan for bio-sciences people who don't like maths.

First year
SEM 1
CHM1011
BIO1011
PHS1011
STA1010 or SCI1020

SEM 2
CHM1022
BIO1022
PHS1022
<Elective>

Second year
SEM 1
SCI2010
<Discipline 1 minor 1>
<Discipline 2 minor 1>
<Elective>

SEM 2
<Discipline 1 minor 2>
<Discipline 2 minor 2>
<Elective>
<Elective>

Third year
SEM 1
<Discipline 1 major 1>
<Discipline 1 major 2>
<Discipline 2 major 1>
<Discipline 2 major 2>

SEM 2
<Discipline 1 major 3>
<Discipline 1 major 4>
<Discipline 2 major 3>
<Discipline 2 major 4>

EDIT: updated with normal physics sequence. Enjoy, I barely had enough patience to pass the sequence (even after I broke it up over 2 years) :P GOOD LUCK.

I don't mind physics at all. Took it up VCE 3/4 without too much of a problem. Apparently PHS1011 and PHS 1022 is recommended. But thanks for the info! I'll still look into it anyways, but most probably would stick to 1011/1022. Because I don't think I can hack through an "Earth Process" unit.

Ah ok. I'll have a look at the other two :]

Oh ok. Thanks for everything =D Greatly appreciated!

Though still quite nervous about starting university in a few weeks D: Units units units *messes hair in frustration*

haha thats ok

well yeah she could do an earths process or just continue with physics in which case shes satified the preq for year 1 by doing option 1

haha thats alright
just go through it when your actually awake lol just make sure you've filled all the prereqs as well for both the optom and the majors which you can find here (which i think ive done but check) http://www.monash.edu.au/pubs/2011handbooks/undergrad/sci-aos-clayton.html you can also switch some subjects as well
