This is going to sound super gay but really the only thing you do in these parties are drink till your hearts content and thats not really all that appealing to the people who dont drink. AT ALL.  ::)

This is only partially true, there are plenty of social parties at uni where you'll get to have fun without drinking all that much

Nothing against drinking personally (i dont mind a drink here and there) but those seem to get a way too far or idiotic sometimes, i can understand where you're coming from.

"Plenty"? Hah, not really. They're few and far between.

Kudos to you Studyinghard. I don't drink either and all these piss-up parties don't appeal to me whatsoever. I also can't understand people who think they can only have fun when alcohol is involved.

I do enjoy some drinks myself, but have to agree with Muuru, people that think you can't have fun somewhere without drinks are complete idiots.

Host scheme party? You mean host scheme night @ the colonial hotel yeah? If you don't know anyone, go early... once people get drinking, it's harder to make friends that you can hang with for the night.
