I think our clubs and societies day is on Tuesday March 1, that picture is merely a taster.

So are they gonna set up tents again?

Nah, the o-week club carnival is much better than the club day they have during week 1. The week 1 thing is mostly designed to re-recruit members who are now in their second/third/etc year and didn't go to o-week.

@taiga, it's people like you that's forcing student unions to lobby to bring back compulsory union fees. :P

Just out of interest...am I allowed to park in the blue permit zone without a permit? Heaps of cars don't display permits when I park there in the morning (near the covered carpark where the gravel is), anyone know what the deal is with this area? Is it free?

Cheers

Not free since today... i didnt have my permit yet, so i blu-tac'd my receipt to the windscreen. Didnt get a fine. They are quite lenient on the first week i believe. All the cars i walked past today had a small ass permit stuck on their windscreen. It's like half the size of the rego sticker so you may have skipped over it

No - you still need a blue permit for that area. It's risky if you park without a permit. The parking inspector shows up randomly. Last year, during week1, she busted about 8 people and took photos of their cars right in front of my eyes.

Parking inspector at Caulfield today was inspecting permit-less cars as I walked past.

I park in the multi-level engineering car park. On Monday night as I was walking toward my car the security team drove past in their ute and stopped to take down my car's rego (I was about 15metres behind them). I have a blue parking permit (2011) and it was displayed properly. Mine was the only red p-plate in the car park on that level and the only one they took down to note. I'm stating this as I think during the first week first years should be extra cautious as to where they can and can't park because it seems to me like they're targeting us, simply because we could be easy moneys for their coffers.

Yeah you can.. contact the clubs directly or just turn up to their events and sign up (depending what it is).

Also, some of the larger clubs (like faculty ones) have offices that you can drop into and sign up.

That fkn security team like 5 bogans squished into a ute think they run the place. Did you get a fine or anything? Perhaps they just mirin your plate?
