I think it should. I also believe your rationale for not picking people who request it is pretty stupid. It should be done by a case-by-case basis.

Okay, let me correct that. I don't know your rationale for it. Haha, care to enlighten?

If one person asks and gets picked everyone else will probably think the same goes for them, and then bam, you get every tom, dick and jane who wants moderator asking you for moderator. If you send out the message early and forcefully like I am now, there won't be any issues like this in the future. :)

I don't think everybody would want to be moderator, but it guess it would be hard to manage with requests. I agree that it's better to have a system where you look out for people who have done a good job, and then PM them an invitation, and if they accept, thumbs up.

I was just wondering, that's all. :)

But I wouldn't disqualify her. Make your point in bold, and put it near the beginning. She obviously was referred to the thread in a way where she didn't read your main post, she just say the topic, and realised that was what Ahmad was talking about, so she posted.

Be encouraging, but just remain firm that you will not accept requests, and you are only looking for people from their merits.

- Stickying announcements, highlighting online resources for people. etc. Follow AppleXY's example. There's a reason why he's the Business moderator. He's dedicated! He stickies useful links, he cleans up his forums, and is always willing to help where he can! It's not required that you go out and search for this stuff, but it all helps and would be greatly appreciated.

Ha ha, Applexy rules! And I'm really glad you made Ahmad maths/physics/chem mod, he's such a genius yet he doesn't let it go 2 his head 8)

Love your choices so far. *thumbs up* Although I too would like to nominate Goosefraba or Costargh for legal. Perhaps some "dual moderality" alongside the wonderful Brendan? (yes, fear the wrath of my invented words)

I'm curious enwiabe, how many mods are you after? I spose you'll need more as the site grows. I gather you may also be reserving some of your decisions until after results come out. Perhaps you could post a list of the mods so far and their modding area? I think I only know a couple of them >.<

Ahmed and Coblin are both highly commendable moderators in maths/physics/chem. Without them a lot of unanswered maths problems will still be lurking in the air.

Apple XY is also a realy good choice. So are Brendan, munto and Daniel.

The beauty of this website is that it caters specifically for VCE students.

HOWEVER, we do need a pro English moderator for English next year(seeing that English is THE most imprtant subject).  For thsi I would recommend 'kido_1' who consistently gives numerous advice in English/ESL section of the forum.

qft.

Yes kido_1 would be a good English mod to have on this forum.

I'd probably nominate BA22 or kido_1 as the english moderator :)
