Reminder e-mails for new members

I just checked my inbox (of my e-mail account) and got this message from a forum that I made an account on, but haven't been active for more than a month. They sent this e-mail (I've blanked out the name of the forum -and I use the same username everywhere):

Hello pi!

We've noticed that you have not been active on ______________________ for quite some time now.

Could we not tempt you back?

If you don't remember your password, you can request it here: Lost Password

We hope to see you on _________________________ soon!

Kindest Regards,

I think this would be a good idea on AN, so that some of the new members who just make an account and then forget about it, are reminded and may then contribute to the community.

Any thoughts on it?  ???

(sorry I moved this thread manually because it was in the wrong place)

It sounds like a good method to remove accounts that are no longer being used. Was that sort of what you had in mind?

“We are all alone, born alone, die alone, we shall all someday look back on our lives and see that, in spite of our company, we were alone the whole way. I do not say lonely -- at least, not all the time -- but essentially, and finally, alone. This is what makes your self-respect so important, and I don't see how you can respect yourself if you must look in the hearts and minds of others for your happiness.”

Seems like a non-issue to me, and either way, an email like that would probably make me want to not return more than anything
sometimes I feel as if I'd be more enriched in life if I bought an RV and started cooking meth

Fair enough, I could see how it could become annoying if there was one very month... Probably hard to make sure there is only a 'once-off' e-mail too. Bad plan
