Can you get 0.5 marks in methods?

I know they double your marks, but why?

Nope you cant get 0.5 marks

I think each paper is marked twice, so they add each mark together

I think they double it so that there's more spread? Not too sure.

EDIT: ^matt's post.

Ah well...then do I get 1 mark then for defining it? Or would that just be a big fat 0? Hahaha.

I think only one person marks methods.

They double marks to get that nice bell curve....(or so they say)

that equaling   - sqrt(3) / 2 ? I think. Then solve for given dom of [0,3] or something.

they used to double mark, but i don't think they do any more, only in circumstances where your mark is way off what was expected. apparently an examiner has to mark the exams (so i've heard) in about 6 mins for chem, so im guessing they would spend less time on methods !!! as for defining things, if you defined it correctly and the question was worth more than 1 mark, im guessing you'll get something as you understood the question. that's what i hope anyway!

umm.. not really. But here's a wild pick at my brain.

part a.. EDIT: oh i remember now, solve for x over the domain or something.

For part b I remember something to do with 3f(x-1) + 1 though. Then something about the first maximum.

Yes it was something like that.
Part a was finding it when it was equal to negative root 3 on 2

nah they do give half marks, but it is rounded down.

ie .5 for shape, .5 for intercepts, .5 domain etc (for a sketching Q)
so if you got 1.5 it would be rounded down to 1 mark
our teacher gave us this examiners mark sheet for last years which had all the half mark allocations, pretty intresting..

positive_viv you should get 1 mark if you showed that
