We have the application SAC coming up next week and I'm not really sure what to expect? Does anyone have any examples of application questions? And how is it supposed to go for a WHOLE WEEKKKK!?

Basically, the application task is a long-winded take-home assignment. You will get a topic which is an extension of what you have currently learnt, and the questions in the SAC will guide you through an application of this topic (you will of course have to make the conclusions yourself). My SAC consisted of 1 question which had 10 parts.

Since it is a take home task and since it contributes so much to your SAC score, I would recommend you spend as much time as you can on it. Before you start, do a draft of what you're going to write. Flesh out your answers (I lost a mark for not doing this) as much as you can (you've got plenty of time), and check over your work afterwards. Good luck!

You got to take yours home? We can't...we spend every lesson for the next week working on it, and they give it to you in sections, so we can't change anything we did in the last lesson (to avoid cheating)...I'm soooo jealous of you!

I had to do the same 2 weeks ago. There's 3 parts and you have 45 minutes (1 period) for the first one, 45 minutes for the 2nd one and 90 minutes for the third one - which really takes 45 minutes, but the additional time is for catching up on previous sections, if still left undone.

The one I did was about some dude who lived off a beach, and wanted to build a fence on one side.....

Shouldn't be too hard. Good luck. :)

Oh... right so yours has 3 components too. What I was talking about before was component 1. It was then followed by 2 tests which followed up what was in component 1, and these made up the application task.

Did your teacher explicitly say that you really can't change anything you did in the last lesson? What my school does with this task is, give out in sections, yes, but we're allowed to go back and change things. We weren't allowed to take the question sheets or our bound books home..but most people commit the questions to memory and work them out at home to make life much easier.

Apparently my teacher is going to staple our other pages together so we can't edit them...I'm not quite sure how its going to work though.

ours is no-editing affair too, but i think we just get new questions each time and hand them back

LOL in that case he/she is going to have a hell of a job unstapling everything to mark :D maybe it would be nice to clarify whether or not you can go back and change things, because that will change your approach to the SAC.. hopefully you can, because it's really tough in these super-long SAC tasks if you're forced to finish things the first time round! Good luck. This is the "worst" one you'll have to deal with lol..

So, I just found out that we are going to be allowed 8 pages double sided of notes into the SAC. What type of things do you recommend I should put on?

Interesting. For our applications task, we were allowed to bring in our whole summary book (the same one we are going to take into the exam). But I guess some schools are different.

Good luck with it and everything.

That's interesting...we were allowed to bring our entire bound books. Well, what I would do is write/type quite small..you should already have been given a general idea of what topics are being tested in this task, so maybe try to squeeze lots of examples in, of different types of questions so that you know how to tackle them if they come up in the SAC. And put in some key formulae too..but really, at the end of the day everyone works differently, so it's up to you to put whatever you feel you need on it :)

Yeah, I think I'm just going to put in a lot of worked examples.
