Basic Structure for a Language Analysis

Technique

Evidence

Effect

Read some of the ones in essay submission and marking, or read in the exam directory. Then try and break down the structure of other people's essays. It'll be so much clearer on how to write an LA.
About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle

Introduction:
Should Include: Name Of Article, Author, Type of Article, Publisher
                      Issue
                      Contention
Audience, Tone (This can be put in Paragraph 1)

 Paragraph 1 - Techniques

 Paragraph 2 - Techniques

Paragraph 3 - Image/Headline (This can be swapped with paragraph 1)

Basic Format for each Paragraph
Technique

Explain

Evidence

Conclusion: Wrap it all up.

Essay should include atleast 3 - 4 techniques in total, I believe, like repetition, alliteration etc etc.

Now is the time for you to start writing. Thats all it is.

At first, your language analysis will be very formulaic. That will be natural because your not accustomed to it. But eventually, you'll make it flow and it'll turn out to be as awesome as any A+ standard Language Analysis in the future. Practise makes perfect.

At your below post: I Don't think so, they are generally intergrated in one or two chapters of an english book and to me, they tend to be around a A+ standard Language Analysis, but there are others in ATARNOTES who write far more superiorly. I Think you'll be getting more out of the resources available  in ATARNotes knowing the language analysis essays in the crash course for instance are people who actually got really High ATARS and Scores in English.

And believe me, there's no easy way out of learning the structure if you're still unsure. If you have to, spend 1 or 2 hours just trying to dissect an essay's structure. You'll be rewarded boundlessly.

Make sure you can identify tone and techniques quickly. You dont want to be searching. Also the way tone changes in the piece is a good thing to have down.
I guess the biggest thing is ensuring you aren't all formulaic, and are going into depth properly.
Is it wrong to say '...uses the hip pocket nerve to position the reader...etc'

I would consider the phrase 'hip pocket nerve' colloquial and would try to avoid it. 'positions the reader' is a phrase that everyone seems to copypaste from the exam reports. Avoid both of these if you can.

Try completely rephrasing the sentence to something like:
"[Writer] plays on the reader's concern for his or her financial security (or financial wellbeing) by..."

There are Insight Guides, but they'll teach you to only write generic ones. That's why English is so hard, there are very few good books on it.

For example essays, use the ones posted in the sub-forum or from the Worked examples thread.
