Eh... I'm not sure the hardware is worth dropping another $200 on. If only I had any idea what the hardware specs. were...

Seriously don't buy another CAS just for year 12! You'll probably never use it again. I've got the original TI-nSpire...it's more than sufficient.

IIH (if I'm honest) that's pretty ugly when compared to this development, Craps all over the original n-spire though.

And I agree with Pixon, definitely not worth spending that much on another calc.

On a somewhat related topic, I can't believe calculators are so grossly overpriced. They use so inexpensive components (unless I'm severely uninformed) and yet are priced similarly to say... a portable music player, a cheapo netbook.

100% agree.

let's be honest, are we actually going to use three-quarters of the functions?!

Hahaha. But does it have sound so you can annoy the people sitting next to you?

zzzz. I don't care how good/ugly a calculator looks; as long as it works well, I don't mind :D
I wonder how fast this one is 0.o. I'd like to see some reviews if they exist.

Also, just for lols:
Two scientists walk into a bar. The first one says “I’ll have some H2O.” The second says “I’ll have some H2O too.” Then he dies.

What's new in Handheld OS 3.0 and Software 3.0
View pictures
Explore concepts using real-world images. View, graph and analyze the outline of the Gateway Arch or the path of a basketball. Import your own images and let your imagination soar.

Explore a new world of data collection
Conduct exciting experiments. Create a hypothesis and test it graphically by collecting and analyzing data with the built-in Vernier DataQuest™ App and TI‑Nspire data collection tools. Put the power of mathematic scientific discovery in your students' hands.

Graph differential equations
Model real-world events like population growth over a period of time. Visualize and explore natural phenomena. You can graph and explore slope fields, direction fields and more.

Energize Statistics class
Study data like a baseball pitcher's earned-run-average over several years. You'll have more ways to view and analyze data in bar charts and histograms. Plus create summary-level frequency plots, probability distributions and clustered bar charts.

Graph in 3D
Graph and explore functions in a 3D space with the powerful 3D graphing functionality, ideal for science subjects and higher mathematics such as Precalculus and Calculus.

Seems like some good innovations for all us old non-CX Nspire CAS users :D

Wait, nspire didn't have that? My 89T could do that. And this was 3 years ago.

if you have the original n-spire why would you get it? I didn't let my sister buy it cause I gave her my n-spire.

I'm not going to get the new calc, but the new OS looks cool. And it only takes ~30 mins to relearn it anyway.

+1 Shouldnt take too long to relearn it, just use/play aorund with it to check your answers etc.

Is it really worth updating your software? Mine is still the one from the start of 2009... what can the newer software actually do??

Clearly it's the awesome people who don't update. I'm still using the version that came out of the box (1.6). There are new features...but in my opinion, none of them are particularly worth spending the time to update and learn. i.e. You're not really at any loss by not updating. You'll probably still get 4 solutions for cos(4x)=cos(8x), 0<x<2pi (they didn't fix it in 2.0)

But...you can't blame people for wanting the latest software...

I think easy graphing of differential equations is a big plus. And it only takes 30 mins (max) to learn to new features (there is no relearning at all). Not a big hassle really...

And for those still using OS 1.X, I find the scratchpad feature (of OS 2.X and 3.X) extremely useful
