I think easy graphing of differential equations is a big plus. And it only takes 30 mins (max) to learn to new features (there is no relearning at all). Not a big hassle really...

And for those still using OS 1.X, I find the scratchpad feature (of OS 2.X and 3.X) extremely useful
Can you still graph the differential equations at all in the OS 1.X??

You can, but it isn't a pretty way...

Okay then. I'm sure I can live without it being pretty...

I'm more interested in getting an emulator for it. It's what I do with classpad software. 10x easier to use, and no need to faff about with cruppy numpads etc. I still own one for exams, school and what not.

Consider you can get a $300 lappy with so much more processing power, which can do maths, AND play minecraft... all for what's probably less than what that calculator will cost.

It's a no brainer.

Edit:
Actually, $165 according to Wikipedia. So with all the yadda yadda... maybe $200-$250 in AUS. Damn being class of 2011.

wait is that colour i see???
is the colour display only for this new model? (i assume so)

Yep, just the CX CAS and CX non-CAS

At least we get new 3D graphing capabilities and it can graph differential equations (good for spesh) :)

The ti-89 could graph 3D and diff equations... can the n-spire seriously not do that? o.O

It's true. TI really screwed up with the early versions of the Nspire. Only in OS 3.0 is there now substantial programming capabilities :( Pretty slow progress.

btw, the new OS (3.0.2) is available here :)

Clearly it's the awesome people who don't update. I'm still using the version that came out of the box (1.6). There are new features...but in my opinion, none of them are particularly worth spending the time to update and learn. i.e. You're not really at any loss by not updating. You'll probably still get 4 solutions for cos(4x)=cos(8x), 0<x<2pi (they didn't fix it in 2.0)

But...you can't blame people for wanting the latest software...

My ClassPad comes up with "Error: Insufficient Memory." ... D:
2010: Chinese SL [43]
2011: English [47] | Mathematical Methods CAS [41]| Specialist Mathematics [38] | Chemistry [40] | Physics [37]

Yeah I think that might have been the issue some people had on the exam. You'd have to graph them both and find the intersection

Ah, thanks!

That's really annoying.. I don't think you can find the points of intersection in exact form, only decimals, like pi as 3.14 etc!

How do i get the graph to show exact values? Lol that's one of the reasons for me upgrading but i cant find the option or whatever :(

The newest OS looks pretty cool tho :D

OMG! That is a massive update compared to the one I bought in 2010. :(.

I got to get this!

EDIT: Do Text books have to be updated now? :S

Not as far as I know, they have 2.0 references.

I have the TInspire 2.0 (because my TInspire died, so we got a free upgrade, and this one doesn't seem much better except it has a rechargable battery. But that's just my opinion :)
