how much do they get paid?

i heard that they have to often frequently have to move a lot...so lots of travel away from home and family which depresses a lot of engineers
...what type of engineering involves working in foreign countries? :2funny:

Depends on the field of engineering, most demand in Australia I think is Civil, with mechanical and chemical also being decent for Australia. To find a job in the Aerospace field is more difficult, but that said you are qualified as a mechanical engineer as well in getting that degree.

As for wages I think the starting wage is generally around 45K? More or less (generally more) depending on how you are as an individual/your field.

Yeah it's all about the status, which is probably why law is so popular as well

Never understood how Vets do it. Struggled enough just with learning the human anatomy; can't imagine re-doing that for every other animal out there. Sure, there's similarities but still... D:

It scares me when people who live in ivory towers who've never held a screwdriver in their life get into medicine...

That said, I want to do engineering 'cos it's fucking awesome.

I already do have an understanding that animal anatomy does bear some similarities to human anatomy, eg horses, cats, and dogs which are all mammals and so are we have fundamentally the same anatomy even though they do look different.
