Cost of studying interstate?

I've been wondering about the costs of studying interstate; accommodation, travelling expenses, living costs etc. I just wanted some insight into this about the general ballpark figure it'll cost per year. Some likely places are at UNSW and University of Adelaide for MBBS. I've done a bit of digging around on the internet but nothing really solid's come up yet. :/ Any ideas?

Also, out of interest, how would a scholarship fit into all of this?

And don't forget the Centrelink scholarship :P I know my brother gets enough from Centrelink now that he lives away from home to cover pretty much all his living expenses. I'm not too sure about the exact numbers of anything though. We've got a few interstaters here so they'll have a better idea.

My girlfriend goes to uni in a random town 6 hours north of Sydney. She told me that she lives on about $300 a week. That includes living on campus which includes meals, then other food and all the small expenses she has to pay for. Really the big costs you are looking at is accommodation and food. If you travel back home, you'd probably only do it a couple of times a semester, which equates to very little a week if you take cheap flights.

If you go ahead with it, you'll either need to get a job interstate, or get youth allowance payments. I'll note that my girlfriend doesn't work, everything she pays for is out of the scholarship she gets

Costs for accommodation: $8,000 - $14,000 per year. At the lower end, this does not include food, at the higher end it does (or should).

Cost of food: ~$2,000 per year. You can obviously spend much more, particularly if you can go out a lot. You can also get this sum down if you eat very basic foods and never go out and can buy things in bulk. I'm basing this on my own experience - $25-$30 a week for groceries plus another $20 for dinner at a restaurant once a week times 40 (presumably you go home for the summer at least).

Cost of entertainment/clothes/books/etc.: Textbooks will depend on your course, for instance this year mine was zero because all my readings are online but Law students have to buy giant expensive books which go out of date quickly, so that keeps prices quite high. As for the other stuff, it really depends on the person. It also costs money to keep a car on the road or to take a lot of public ransport, so you'd need to factor that in as well.
