LOL business is more important than maths?

Business is a human construct that administrates the barter of goods.

Mathematics is the foundation of the universe.

I wonder which one is 'better'.

Why does my school (R.E lessons) try brainwash me into believing that capitalism is evil and corporations evil organisations with no heart and don't care how many people they kill to make money? They use a few examples to extend this belief to the entire idea of capitalism.

The movie we watched was called "Corporation" I think. documentary style.

I think this is the site for it

http://www.thecorporation.com/

Does this belong in this thread? Brendan watched this video in high school too, and I remember him telling me he was the only one in his class who opposed the viewpoints brought up in the movie.

@ Ahmad's 0.6 theory, I think that doesn't apply to bio because the A+ marks are generally low. I know people who have got 50 and have barely or (a couple of years back when the A+ mark was 55/75 been well below that 0.6 thing). That being said, this year's exam was relatively easy.

Can people tell me the statistical significance of only 9% of people getting A+ instead of the usual 10 or 11. Does that mean the spread is more widespread (ie. more people with really high marks) or more centred (more than usual people got around the median). I've tried to get my head around it and believe the latter but hoping for some confirmation. In any case it means that 3 A+s should be guaranteed 40 even if they are all low because you reckon at least 1% of the people who got A+ on this exam won't for GA2/GA3. Would you say that 3 mid-A+s (halfway along the range) would equal about 44 or above? What would GA1: low A+ GA2: full marks (lol) GA3: full marks (lol x2) get you?

I guess it just depends how things may scale. I've heard of somebody who obtained A+ A A and got 44. It just depends how everyone else goes. Remember, a study score is not judged by the amount of A+'s you get, but how everyone else in the state has performed in that given subject. If everyone misinterpreted the exam, and the highest overall mark was a B+, then that person may still get a 50, if their other results were near perfect, as they had performed the best against the state.

Hope this helps :P

NE2000 - I dont know what 9% getting A+ means, we ultimately do not know how vcaa works so there is not much point trying to guess them.
For your scenarios, yeah around there, maybe 43 upwards

xox.happy1.xox - Say the highest mark was 50% in an exam, that person would still get A+

Hahahaha, loosing "3 marks will kick you out of 40's"

I went to a lecture a couple of nights ago. We got told that you need to 50% on the end of year exam to get a 30.

Remember, the further you go up, the harder it is.

I don't think so. It is impossible to predict how the State would go.

It doesn't matter how many students do it, it only matters how good they are, because study scores are based on percentages. So if more students do it there will be more scores in the range of 45-50
