Parent teacher interviews/conferences?

What does everyone think about these? Does anyone do them every year?

Not sure if it's just a waste of time or not :O

My parents and I go twice a year, since year 7. I think its a great way to get some private feedback that you can't get in class, and if your parents know where you are having some difficulties, they can assist you/make you focus on studies rather than TV, games, etc.

Yeh, I think its good.

Depends on the teacher. The ones that just open up their big mark sheet are normally terrible (unless they're doing something with the marks rather than just reading them out) but then some teachers give you really specific feedback on how you can improve. If you have good teachers it's worthwhile, it's one of the rare periods of time that are devoted entirely to you.

aaah Parent teacher interviews.... where mucking about all year catches up with you.

That said my parents stopped attending after I got referred to by one of the teachers as a kid who wasn't even in our year level.

Mine have always been a waste of time (Y)

Go to school at 6 on a week night and get deprecated by a few of my teachers, have the other teachers say that I'm a fantastic and really going places. Mum and Dad always get angry at me and freak out and think I'm going to fail.

pointless for me. they say the same thing every year to parents and the teachers are usually rushing things to get on to the next interview. if you want advice on how you can improve just ask them after class instead of in front of your parents  :D

Never really bothered. Teachers just look at their mark books, say the words time management, homework, work ethic a few times and you move along to the next teacher.
