Hey guys

trouble with this one question...

solve the following equation for 0<x<360

2/sin²x + cotx = 3

$\frac{2}{sin^2x}+cotx=3$

Recall that $1+cot^2x=cosec^2x$

$2(1+cot^2x)+cotx=3$

$2cot^2x+cotx-1=0$

$(2cotx-1)(cotx+1)=0$

$cotx=\frac{1}{2}, -1$

$tanx=2,-1$

$x=arctan(2), \pi+arctan(2), \frac{3\pi}{4}, \frac{7\pi}{4}$

I'm not sure what you're talking about, I don't have pi as a solution? The maths typer thing is called latex and it's one of the features of this forum. If you go to preview, you'll be able to see the TEX there that really neatens things up.
