GMAC opened a couple of days ago and the 2012 admissions guide is out. GAMSAT results are still up in the air but anybody else here applying for next year's intake?

Hey I'm applying for Unimelb and USyd Dentistry.

From what I've read from the GMAC guide on page 10, med applicants will have their results retrieved through ARTS so a transcript is not needed. But all dent applicants have to send in a transcript. Can anyone confirm if I have understood this correctly? I wonder why they can't retrieve the results from the system...

ACER hates dentistry students? Could be that the system is being phased in over years I guess

Wow, been a while since my last post here :P

I'll be applying for next years med intake. On the ACER website it says GAMSAT results will be released next week.

Apparently the library went off when they came out on Tuesday!

I applied via GMAC a couple of days ago, already decided I want to rerank my preferences lol

I just sent in my application for USyd dent. Their online application form had so many pages was ridiculously long haha. I spent the last couple of days getting my documents certified and filling in the GPA form, hope it pays off ;D

I have to get my transcript tomorrow, really shouldn't have left it too late. Hopefully if I order it in person I don't have to wait...right?

Yeah, there's a form you have to fill up and they print it off right away.

Which courses/unis are you applying to?

UoM is the one I really care about, if I get an offer from another university I'll probably do honours and think about it.

Sydney is for MMI practice

Sydney withdrew from the ACER system this year for various reasons (there's the threat of a 10million dollar lawsuit if you check the ACCC website). They're running interviews independently and they're scheduled for 4-8 July, which is well before UoM's interview.

So, practice!

Oh right, I get what you mean ;D But accepting an interview offer with no intention of taking up a potential offer would be immoral, wouldn't it?

I wouldn't say I have no intention, I just don't have a burning desire to go there

Ahh that's so high - i must have been mistaken in thinking they looked at GPA/GAMSAT without cutoffs: much prefer that way.
how'd you do in the GAMSAT Russ?

why not medicine anywhere else (particularly uSyd since you are applying for dentistry there)? just curious heh.
