discouraging marks with practice exams?

I'm slowly making my way through exams and so far i've done say about 8-9 that includes timed and untimed exams from when i first started. i find it troubling that even after these exams (which i must admit isn't a very long list) i'm still just getting A's and low-ish A's i might add.

I'm getting really bummed about this, but i am getting faster at exams.

Is anyone else going through this or does anyone have advice as to what i should do to really pick stupid mistakes up and/or pick my mark up to an A+?

If you are getting A's consistently, it's an indication that you know your content pretty well. From what I have read, I think the problem is you are not improving as you do exams (correct me if I'm wrong).

I recommend you keep a spreadsheet going of every exam you complete, the mark you got out of 90, and a list of every single question you got wrong (e.g. 1.3.2 Define cost of an asset: forgot to mention life of the asset etc.).

It's great that you already completed so many exams. You said you are getting faster at exams, so you should have ample time to go over them when you finish to pick up careless errors.

If you don't mind me asking, where are you losing the marks (i.e. prac or theory, or just silly mistakes)?

In addition to what was said above, go through the exams that you already did, and then make a word document with the questions you got wrong, then a genius answer to go along with it. Then go through all the questions that pop up a lot and write them down with a good model answer, and any questions that you think are really good questions. I find that this really helps after you have done exams.

And also if i can ask, what are your marks out of 90? and yeah where are you losing marks?

Thanks guys!
most of the time i miss out on an element in a theory question or make stupid mistakes regarding balance day adjustments, i'm at school right now i can't really give specifics. other times i just simply mention the wrong principle or make an alien entry/incorrect title. so basically i'm losing marks accross a variety or questions, can't really pinpoint.

I'm already making a bank of theory questions that i've gotten incorrect but i'll make sure to start using excel to keep track on my progress. atm my marks range for 80% - 86% and 86% being my highest mark so far. i guess i just need to take more care and think harder. i'll get back to you on specifics when i get home
