Two ambiguous and pretty unanswerable multiple choice questions, but I suppose it wasn't that bad.

I think I'm possibly ready but then I come across an practice exam question now and then that makes me freak out. It's my first exam too and I'm not as scared as I think I should be.

according to the past exam trends... do we get a hard exam this year?
2010:
Mathematical Methods CAS 3/4 [41->45.8]

2011:
English Second Language 3/4 [46->47.1], Chemistry 3/4 [42->45.6], Specialist Maths 3/4 [38->49.2], LOTE [33->40.9], Biology 3/4 [41->42]

aggregate: 195.9
2011 ATAR: 99.25

2012-2015: Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours)

I wouldn't read into this too much - the more you overanalyse, the more time you waste that should be spent on practice exams! The reality is you have to be prepared for a hard and an easy exam.
The other reality is that there aren't really trends - it depends on how questions are vetoed; I had the process explained to me by one of the physics exam-setters.
Just back from spending the year at Oxford. Now onto final year Monash MBBS.

2009: Biology [50], Maths Methods (CAS) [45]
2010: English [50], German [50], Chemistry [50] Monash Uni Chem [5.5]
ATAR: 99.95.

The washing powder question was not unanswerable, it was just hard *folds arms*

Hmm, I beg to differ! It didn't test any possible learning outcome in the study design. I'm not saying this because it related to washing powder (I'm all for abstract ways to test knowledge), I'm saying it because it required a guess - and the guess that I thought was most educated given the circumstances was wrong. The water plant photosynthesis question was also terrible.

I had the washing powder question for my enzyme sac. I guess it would be hard if you analysed the question to much, like cold wash, warm wash etc. I guess if you answered the question by eliminating the more impropable answers, you would have gotten it.

Yeah I disagree with you. I'm too lazy to find the study design and analyse the dot points, but it tested your ability to think like a scientist and (implicit in that) your understanding of biological processes. You wanted an enzyme that could function under the broadest possible temperature and pH conditions - there was only 1 enzyme that met those criteria.

The fact that a majority of the class of 2010 got it right makes me think that it was a fair question. I'm not going to do a stat test on the results but they look very normal.

The only reason people didn't like it was because they started trying to consider it in terms of how a washing machine would function and the water temperature for washes.
