well somewhere it said hydrogen bond and i raged
i just googled the answer because of something i read on a practise exam and this came up.  Did you just do the 'Engage education' chemistry practise exam? because in the solutions it said that it was a hydrogen bond and I thought it sounded wrong...

I did that exam today, and yeh it should be covalent!

Weak hydrogen bonds hold together the complementary base pairs. It needs to be strong enough to hold together but weak enough to split easily for DNA synthesis.
