lol
It would take ages to write down. Probably an old old MAV question/Kilbaha question.

Some of the really hard question begin to border plain stupidity.

most TSFX extended response questions are ridiculous. i doubt VCAA would give us anything like that. check out both 06 TSFX trial exams if you want to see what i mean...even my chem tutor, who got 48 raw in methods, says to them 'for fun' if you have time. one of the questions was based on this: "the Lambert W function is defined to be the inverse of xe^x . It follows from the definition of
the Lambert W function that if a = xe^x , then x = W(a)"

The Lambert W function actually crops up a lot! There is no closed form for it, but there's some very good approximation methods. :)

That question wasn't that ridiculous. I remember it. If you understand your concepts, you can apply them to it.

ahmad - do you mean it comes up in methods??

2happy - regarding trial papers, ive done like 60+, and out of all those i'd say i thought TSSM, Heffernan, Kilbaha and NEAP were very good. TSSM is great for CAS papers, if that's what you're doing. Kilbaha and ITUTE are slightly more difficult. Insight was a bit on the easy side, but still good. and of course, always do the VCAA samples and past papers...just try to encounter a wide variety of question types in your studying, that will help you develop strategies of dealing with each. you never know, you just might get lucky with tomorrow's paper!

Not in methods. But I've seen it countless times else where. I doubt VCAA would put a question on it on the exam, but they very well could using a build-up question sort of thing.
