Did anyone see this in the balanced redox equation?

_ H+ + _TeO3 + Cr2O7 ---> _ + H2TeO4 + _ + Cr3+ + _ H2O

_ + H2TO4 wtf?

YES!!! and then I asked the supervisor if that was wrong, and she's like "VCAA checks the papers at least 10 times, so No you're wrong"

She's a moron.

The question may have been written incorrectly, but if you couldn't figure out what you were meant to do then you (anyone) have a problem. Logic + Common sense dictates.

Sigh.. i did this to compensate " 2H2TeO4 + H2TeO4 + Cr3+ + Cr3+" cause it was supposed to be coefficients 3 and 2..

I thought the exam had some pretty easy marks. The difficulty range was really wide though... some of those multiple choice questions were ridiculously easy. Eg. question 1...

And then some were weird/hard/confusing... How do you work out the one where it said something like 'a gas is 2.86g per L at STP. The gas is most likely ____. '

STP - 22.4 L per mol

2.86g in a L -> M = 2.86*22.4 g per mol = 64.064g mol^-1

After cycling through some of the heavier 'usual' gasses, we find SO2 has molar mass of about 64
2009/2010: Mathematical Methods(non-CAS) ; Business Management | English ; Literature - Physics ; Chemistry - Specialist Mathematics ; MUEP Maths

96.85

2011-2015: Bachelor of Aerospace Engineering and Bachelor of Science, Monash University

2015-____: To infinity and beyond.

WOW you are good. Get's the name of the gas without even know the answers!! HAHHAHA that was the answer :P

question 4, the answer is stayed the same, since the actual mole wouldn't change since you are altering the molecular mass along with drying.

A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

You think VCAA will be a bitch and make us have to give a quantified dilution factor for it?

definately not, it was a one mark question

also for the matching of organic molecules to the letters,
for the bio diesel one, i put the methy ester, is thius coorrrect, peoeple have told me i am wrong. Isn't methyl ester what biodiesel is. I bloody well hope i am correct

For the last part was the answer to just dilute the sample??...

could be the sugars

i said dilution for that question about caffeine - what about the multiple choice questions about the IR spectrum and what factors influence it? i said electronegativity becuase IR doesn't work for symmetircal molecules such as O2 - what did people get?
It says in the textbook that biodiesel is a methylester becuase after hydrolisis of triglyceride, glycerol is a by product and the fatty acids react with methanol to produce a methylester
btw how do you balance the equation in q4 to get a mole ration of 1:2 i still don't get it  ???

Wow! I dont even understand that lol.. But Thanks!

We weren't even taught biodiesel stuff so when it came up on the exam I was pretty annoyed.
