What was the answer to MC 8 with ibuprofen? I don't get why it wouldn't be a simple condensation reaction forming a peptide linkage?
The question was asking which form was MORE soluble, all of them are soluble, but the question is where ionic supersedes polarity.

Oh geez, I thought it was asking what the structure is when they react together. Oh well.

Well its not like the course tells you which is more soluble, VCAA could pay both, its just D looked so sus and C was too obvious.

LOL, so everyone agrees that Q4 was the make or break question?

Most of the people I spoke to finished it in just a hour and just got stumped on Q4a..

Ah well

Cut off for A+?

I found it really difficult :(. So disappointing, too.

I'll be happy with a B.

the iboprofen was d , the 2 ions, as shown by the question more soluable in water, ion dipole bonds are more soluable than any of the other options

For 4 b), didn't anyone notice that they gave you the molar mass of the precipitate including H20? so the mol we first worked with, was larger than it would be if it was dehydrated, which would give a lower percentage?

So the mass was inclusive of the water, hence when heat the mass of water is lost too, so it's proportional.

DELIBERATELY heated BEFORE WEIGHING

If they know they're heating it, therefore they will know the molar mass without water, so it'd remain the same.

So glad I changed to the same at the last minute. Usually a question asks if it would be higher or lower and since they included the "same" option this time, I thought there would be something to it so I crapped on about how molar ratios are still the same etc.

And I was confused as hell with 4a but winged it with an unbalanced equation which resulted in me getting 36.81% which seems to be the general consensus. So happy!

Hopefully I get an A at least.
The exam this year wasn't really hard... Just very very tricky. Can't wait to find out what I will get now.
