Definitely harder than last year but easier than 2009
2009: Biology (31)
2010: Specialist(40+), Methods(45+), Physics(40+), English(35+), Chemistry(37+)

Chemistry 2011 Exam 1 - The mutliple choice questions of death

Do you guys reckon they are going to mark the theory questions really harshly? It sounds like most people lost sufficient marks on the MC questions for there to be a large enough "distinguisher" haha.
Yeah, the MC Mass question - I call y'all to duty on it!

Look at the IR in data book, the mass isn't an exact basis - as jane said.

I think that it was harder than 2010 and about the same standard as 2009. The cut-off should be about 80-85%.

It was out of the calibrated/projectable data range provided.

And uh, what d'you mean by D? :S

Would an 83.33% get me an A at all? :(

Was a med hopeful in 2011 currently studying Science/Laws at Deakin University.

Did English, Chinese SL, Methods CAS, Biology and Chemistry + Retail Cert III in Year 12.

Feel free to ask any questions related to the above; and I AM SOOO SORRY to all the people who've inboxed me since last year for my non-responsiveness, I forgot completely about this forum for quite awhile.

For 2012 and 2013 Year 12ers, I wish yous all the best!!! :D

Nah it's B - though the data booklet contradicts it. All the textbooks are saying it, my teacher said it and even google said it...

From Heinemen: For a molecule to absorb infrared radiation, the bending or stretching vibrations must change the overall dipole moment of the molecule.

Dipole Moment of a molecule is determined by teh size of the charge seperation and the distance between its atoms.

Can't find mass from Heinemen though.

*shrugs*

Found it

About Philosophy

When I see a youth thus engaged,—the study appears to me to be in character, and becoming a man of liberal education, and him who neglects philosophy I regard as an inferior man, who will never aspire to anything great or noble. But if I see him continuing the study in later life, and not leaving off, I should like to beat him - Callicle

Yeah, unfortunately :(

But in saying that, I looked at the data book specifically when I reached to question, and since it didn't correlate I went against it :( Grrrr
