What about population genetics specifically? You do need to know a little about population genetics for evolution and things like that.

With the human genome, how much are genes and how much of it is 'junk DNA'? and what do you call the parts of DNA that codes for certain RNA strands? thanks.  :)

Off the top of my head I think it's 95% non-coding DNA.

And the parts that code for mRNA strands made in transcription are exons, if that's what you were talking about.
