Extra Space
« on: June 16, 2011, 07:50:02 pm »
I needed extra space for the Baddely and Hitch question. I didn't write anything about extra space in the question, however on the back of the exam where the half blank page was i wrote SECTION B QUESTION (#) continued. I was directed to write the question number there by the supervisor. Was anybody else directed to do the same? I've heard each examiner may mark a page or two pages each. This may mean that they don't get half my answer....

Did this happen to anyone else, or does anyone know what would happen?

Thanks :).

I went to a lecture by the Chief Assessor, and he said that as it is marked online, if you need more space you should ask for another book. Obviously that was either wrong, or not explained to ssNake's supervisors.

Yeah, i asked for quote, "another script book" as advised by my school. I was then instructed by VCAA assessors, to write in the blank space at the end of the book, as it is "the only space you get".

If that part doesn't get marked, you might be able to appeal to VCAA or something. VCAA should've made it more clear what to do. The Chief Assessor said that he wasn't sure what people were supposed to do, so he had to clarify it with VCAA, and that's what VCAA said to do (I'm pretty sure?). Hopefully you don't have to worry about it! :)

Email the VCAA and indicate what happened and they will probably just scan in the back of the paper (they'll probably do this anyway). Not ideal for them but they'll accommodate it.

wtf, as if they didn't give you more paper or another booklet. Those supervisors are obviously *&^*heads. Here's the answer from VCAA:

Quote
Subject: RE: Psychology Exam - Is there booklet space for more writing or replacement of incorrect SA responses in the June 2011 scanned booklet for Exam 1?

Hi Susan,
If students need more space to write their answers - or to correct an answer - then they can ask the exam supervisor for a script booklet. They should then clearly mark on both exam booklets that they have used an extra booklet, so that examiners can then access this through the scanned documents.

Hope this helps! I've copied your query to the exams unit, in case there is further info.
Kind regards
Maria

I used an extra booklet for that question too!

I wrote "see booklet for answer" under my crossed out answer on the actual exam paper. :| I hope that was ok.

omg the same thing happened to me!

And when I asked the examiner for another booklet, they gave me a sheet of lined paper to write my answer on. It was kind of dodgey because I didn't know whether it was going to be scanned or not. But my exam supervisor said that the examiner will see it.

I'm really worried and emailed vcaa about it...:S and am still waiting for a reply
If I lose 3 marks for that bloody question it's the exam supervisor's fault! not mine! they said that it would be scanned! >:(

Anybody who wrote answers on the back, i have been emailed an was instructed:

"YES, there are several routine checks that would ensure that your response is marked as you intended and indicated."

That's a relief :D

If you cant get the email, i would suggest looking in the junk folder, thats where my reply was. :\
