How many university courses is most appropriate for any individual to undertake (i.e. during their lifetime)?

Okay, I've heard that nowadays it's not that unusual for a person to do 3-4 university courses, how many do most people do?

What's the norm?
Is it 1,2,3 or 4 or more?
Is there a recommended amount out there?

Most people do exactly 0, because a small minority of the Australian population actually get a university degree.

In terms of how many is appropriate or recommended, it's however many you need to qualify you. The idea that 4 degrees is standard is not true (and ridiculous), most people will do a Bachelor's degree and look for work. Some will then get a relevant Masters degree, such as an MBA.

Very (VERY) few people do the undergraduate -> graduate -> PhD -> secondary masters etc pathway

I think the 4 refers to the people who jump around from course to course. I've got friends who've done 3 years at uni with a different course each year, still trying to find what's right for them. If you mean actually graduating though, I'd say 2 is the most you really need for almost any pathway (undergrad-->graduate). Beyond that is just purely for academics.

I think I only want to do one and stick to it, not even do masters, but who knows.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.
