Am I disadvantaged?

From what I've read, the main purpose of doing SACs is for the teacher to rank the students in the cohort according to how they perform. So today, we received two question booklets and we were told that we had one week to complete them and both booklets will go towards our two SAC marks for the semester.

Now these booklets contain really simple questions such as "What is a dominant trait", "Complete the follow Punnet Square", etc. A lot of the questions can be answered by looking in the text book for definitions and none of them require thinking creatively or problem solving. So it is very likely for everyone in the class to get full or at least very close to full marks.

Am i disadvantaged from this since everyone will do very well and it will make it harder for the teacher to rank us? I seem to be the only one in the class to be annoyed at this while everyone is jumping for joy we received such easy SACs =\

your whole cohort is disadvantaged (which I suppose includes you) as VCAA will most likely mark that SAC down

yeah,

if that's the only component of the SAC, then the SAC scores will be very skewed. higher achieving students would be disadvantaged if they were ranked the same or wrongly ranked, but the cohort as a whole will not be disadvantaged, as SAC marks will actually depend on the exam.

is this only applicable for unit 4 SACs?
if so, you shouldn't worry much, as the exams weigh 66% of your study score, SACs [esp only one unit] contributes little. in the long run, your overall performance should place you near where you should be.

its a take-home SAC, so I'd suggest you to answer each question in as much depth as you feel comfortable with, that should help to give you an edge over the rest.

The thing is, we received TWO question booklets which is applicable for TWO out of the (I don't know how many) SACs for Unit 4.

Good suggestion, will keep that in mind thanks.

surely if the scores are obviously skewed, and its OBVIOUSLY too easy, your teacher must be an idiot?!

What if you're teachers don't cross-mark SACS and one teacher is harsher than the others. The harsh teacher's class does the best in the exam (by far) but the worst in SACs simply because the teacher is harsh, not that the SACs are lower quality (in fact comparisons between students reveal the SACs are higher in quality). Does this put the students of the harsh teacher who is facilitating good exam results at a disadvantage?

I would like to know the above ^ as well. If one teacher is giving away easy marks, does that mean all of their students will rank highest in the overall cohort? Or are the rankings done differently?
