Did you get a statement of marks that told you what score out of 150 you got, akwilkie?

Hey guys,
I got an A - and I have a couple of questions about it.
What marks on the 2 exams do you guys reckon are needed to get a 40 or more as the study score for biology?
I really want a 40. was my A good enough? or do you really need an A+ to get over 40?
Cheers.

most likely you will want a high A+ later

generally, the top 11% of state receives A+ on an exam, and the top 10% of state receives 40+ as SS.

so i still can get a 40, but it'll be hard? do SACS have a huge bearing on it?

so is it impossible to get mid 40's with a high A & a high A+?

edit:: good cohort etc rule out any unnecessities

probably. total SACs contribute 34% to your SS, so if you want to have the average to receive 40+, you'd want an A+ ave. across all three GAs.

in terms of SACs, that is you want to rank in your cohort where your moderated SACs will be around A+ (i.e. ranked high enough so that the corresponding exam score would be A+)

okay.
excuse the confustion. (asking for a friend) so i got lazy... anyways

i meant that if sac's were automatic straight A+

then exam 1: high A and exam 2: high A+.

is it then possible for a mid 40's?

How do they scale your sacs according to the exams? Like the whole 'first ranked basically gets the top exam mark as their sac mark', but what if you had two exams? Which exam would the sac be scaled up against?

This year in Biology I'm pretty sure only 9% got A+ on Exam 1 - but I'm not sure if that would have impact on anything.

The marks you need in total for a 40+ would change every year...your best bet would probably to find someone from last year who got 40+ and bought a Statement of Marks, and ask if they mind telling you what was needed last year, just as an indication. And Mao's right, a high A+ would probably get you there, but it depends on how high your A was :]

Does that mean it leaves room for a higher percentage to get a 40 ss?

No, I don't think it does - the 0-50 scale they use is consistent every year in terms of the percentages of people getting in a certain range of scores, e.g. __% will get 40+...someone correct me if I'm wrong though.

Oh okay, because I thought its standard that 10% get 40 or over, so if 9% get A+s, then I thought ppl with high As would make up the other 1% or something.

that would be the most reasonable assumption.

they would probably use an average of the two exams.

45 = top 2%
sorry to say but I think that A will make it very hard to achieve.
