How "little" work did you do in year 12?

Seriously just about every past yr 12 talks crap about how "little" work they did in yr 12, they shud just stop hiring these ppl ( OK not every1)  becuz ppl get lulled into a false sense of security that yr 12 is an easy yr to excel.

I wud find the fairly "low achieving" students more helpful, bcuz they would probably descrive the same work ethic as the high achiever, (like enwiabe) and atleast they would say they did shit at the end of it, so atleast we wud be alarmed to do well, and not be misled into thinking that u dont have to do that much to do well....

Thats just my view.....

I liked this post.

We all do it at some stage, sometimes it's accurate but sometimes it's exaggerated too. So, let's all brag about how good we scored given how "little" work we did. Everyone share your stories on how little work you did.

Here's mine:

Year 11
Information Systems (Units 3&4)
- No past exams
- Crammed book on exam day
- Study score of 40 (scaled down to high 37)

Year 12
English
- No past exams
- No practice essays
- First time I actually read the texts in English (as opposed to previous years), except for Oedipus Rex which I only read half of.
- I wrote my exam on Oedipus Rex (which I didn't read properly) and GATTACA (which I watched 3 times because it's not a text, and hence I don't have to read it)
- Shamefully, I read Romulus, My Father one and a half times -- too much effort there!
- Study score of 36 (scaled down to high 34)

Every other subject, I have to say that I worked for. Interestingly, I felt I did less work in Unit 4, yet I performed better (less careless errors and same standard of work). I did not study during the exam week (more a matter of confidence and calmness than laziness).

Your turn!

Yeah, you know that enwiabe's assertion that he "completely fucked" chem exam 2 is an exaggeration.  He got 70/73 for exam 1, which corresponds to about 46-47 and his final study score was 43, for which he *would* have to have done worse than expected, but not "completely fucked" by anyone's definition :)

Never studied for any of my sacs, used my textbook as my summary book for sacs, spent a good deal of class time playing blackjack and snake on my calculator, never used my checkpoints book except to cut out the cue cards in it then just crammed for the week before the exam. <3 Further Maths

Please don't follow my example.
2008 ENTER: 98.10
Biology 50, Chemistry 45, Mathematical Methods *, Specialist Mathematics *, Further Mathematics(2007) 46

Lol, this is a quote from another forum which comes to mind

"While you may laud your success over me now, i feel that you're victories will only be temporary and that this year will end in endless defeat for you. My year was interrupted by a three month sojourn to my chateau in Monaco as well as a few months skiing in the Romanian alps. It's little wonder that my Chinese was only scaled to 53.7, anyway 162.9 from three is a good enough start to get me into TAFE anyway."

Hmm... same, I forgot to include them. I can't remember doing my English and IS practice exams though, even though I think they happened. I remember my Maths and Science ones.

With Chinese SL: did no work.  Crammed detailed study within the last week before the oral exam.  Did no work for everything else.  Got 45 raw which scaled to 51  (mostly due to the rigorous Singaporean education I had been subject to till 2004).

Biology: Tried to consistently make notes throughout the year.  This failed epically because of my lack of discipline.  Did checkpoints, about 8 trial exams for each exam (Unit 3 and Unit 4), and for Unit 4 I relied very very heavily on Douchy's Biology Podcasts (that guy is a LEGEND).  46 raw, very surprised, which scales to 46.5 (oh joy).

Methods: Did the exercises in the book, a few checkpoints questions, about 8 trial exams too.  42 raw --> 46-ish scaled?
ENTER 99.95
2008 50 English   49 Chemistry   43 Specialist   45 History:Revs
2007 46 Biology   42 Methods
2006 45 Chinese SL

I don't mean to sound particular but films are also texts.

Methods CAS 3/4: Did no work the whole year, probably only ever did about 1/2 of the chapters in the course.
Week b4 exam started stressing and came on VN to get some help from people. Did about 3-4 practice exams.
SS 24 :(

You guys make me look like model student...

About 15-20 practise exams per exam. However, quality of performance varied between subjects, eg physics and chem was a half hour job and when a question was too long I wrote stuff like 'meh' or 'refer to 2005 neap exam for working' or when a question was shit in terms of wording, real life application etc it received a smart arse comment rather than an answer, graphs were all wonky etc.

Chem and physics had a half hour study commitment before a SAC as well. Except for food chem. I had to study so hard for that, and I still didn't understand any of it.

On the other hand, I spent so many hours bugging my english language teacher to teach me essays :P (well, mark them)
