Oh God.

You'll like Johns if you go to a school like Scotch or Xavier and are a member of the 1st XI and XVIII.

Otherwise, no...

haha i fit that bill....

sorry if this has been asked before, but do those fixed cut-offs -Law 95, Commerce + Arts 75, mean you're guaranteed a place if your ENTER exceeds them?

Yup.

The hard bit about getting into ANU these days isn't so much the ENTER requirement as finding accommodation... They have this "first year guarantee" thing but even so there were 7 applicants for every vacant spot at my college last year.

What do they value most in applicants?

Yeah how they would choose applicants is beyond me....perhaps a BO and hygiene check?

Anyone who applies for accommodation in their first year will get some sort of accommodation, the question is just where.

Some halls do look at references and things, and the application has you include awards and extracurricular activities and so on, but putting an application in early helps a bit also.

Neither...do you reckon they would notice if you claimed school captain, drama captain etc etc? :D

Bruce and JohnXXIIIIXIXIXII look the best...Johns rooms look the best...Bruce dining area seems a bit dodge, but the common areas sound nice! humphhdog i think you answered this before but where do you go, and how would you rate the different facilities/rooms of Bruce, Burgmann and John? (main 3 ya?)

Im liking the bruce!

Yeah Burgmann, Bruce, and Johns are the main three catered colleges. There's Ursies as well, but it's a bit... weird.

And Bruce dining area isn't dodge at all! Bruce is where I go; Eriny goes to Burgmann. I've written a fair few posts paying out Johns for being full of retarded jocks and sluts, but that's just my opinion - I know people who actually like it there (but I know other people who hate it there, so meh...).

As for facilities, well they'll all be pretty even really. All three of those colleges have the kind of facilities you'd need to survive. To be honest, you won't end up using a fair few of the facilities - I rarely go to the common rooms to watch TV (no one watches TV at college) - much more often to the Buttery = college bar. You spend most of your time in your own or your friends' rooms.

As for things to put down on your application - put everything you can think of. The head of Bruce is renowned for taking more quirky people the last two years, god knows why. Things like sporting achievements, leadership, travel, academic achievements, community service will all look good.

The silly thing is the application form - you can barely fit anything in!

Easier said than done...for some reason, they've limited the academic achievements field (or something like that, as well as another field), to 150 characters. You can barely put anything in that...

Yeah. I remember not using punctuation for mine. I guess pick the most recent/impressive things.

Eriny/Humphdogg - what sorts of things do you think they are looking for in a PHB application?
