I can't concentrate...how can I fix this?

I am not sure what's wrong with me, but recently I haven't been able to concentrate and listen to certain things. I have been going to school and studying and doing the things that I've always done. However, I have not had time to watch any television. Could it because of this? Everything feels so muddled up and I feel no emotional value to anything, so I guess it's a bit like being a robot. What should I do? Should I watch more television?

I dropped television in year 12, and I was fine. I still barely watch television (only Heroes).

If you can't concentrate, try "brain foods" and sleep. Also try relaxing (can include television, but I preferred computer games in year 12 I think).

What's your current day routine look like, just out of interest

but recently I haven't been able to concentrate and listen to certain things.

Does that mean there are some things you can still happily concentrate on?

It happens. Take a day or two off from study (if you can). You'll feel better for it. If television relaxes you, then watch it. TV is not as bad as people say!

If it's a busy time, remember to get good sleep and put in breaks every 20 minutes or so (usually breaks would be set after longer periods of time, but it's much more motivating and easier to concentrate on the task at hand if you know that there's max 20 minutes until your next break).

Yes, it's mainly my listening skills that have deterioted. Or perhaps, poor teaching from teachers? Anyway, it's a bit scary. This is the first time that this has happened to me. I am having trouble retaining information from school but when it comes to home study, everything's the same.

In fact, now that I think about it, at the rate I am going, I think I'd get a better ENTER from staying at home then going to school- much less time consuming

I read something about adequate sleep, and its effects on the function of our sympathetic and parasympathetic system. Apparently, those students who always get the top marks achieve more than 9 hours of sleep a night! That's why I get those D's in maths... I don't get any sleep :P

Voltman, have you changed your eating habits recently perhaps?

I think a lot of people go through this 'stage' or whatever you want to call it.

Try mixing things up a bit, take a break from studying, watch some tv or go hang out with some friends.

If it is REALLY bad you can get prescribed drugs such as Aderall and stuff like that, but that would be the last thing I'd do.

I always go on the computer at 8:00 to 9:30 (or around there), on VN of course. It relieves everyday stress, and really makes me feel relaxed. Then, I panic because school is the next morning. :(
