Well theres an easy way around that - just be extremely (excessively?) detailed. We're going through the revision period now in class with our teacher teaching us how to write answers, and we've gone to the extent of pretty much providing 3 points for even a bloody 1 mark question, which I reckon is stupid but well, yeh as my teacher said, its pretty damn good insurance to ensure that you don't lose any marks. And hey, I guess its worked in the past given MHS's BM history...

Yeah i spoke to her today sort of- and shes like yeah it would be considered an important term. I tried putting my point accross that other terms throughout the SAC where mentioned and not really explained but i lost no marks for them and that it was not specificaly in the AOS but frankly i dont think she cared. ehh, im not gonna get into an argument with the teacher over the point, even though she cant really justify her marking [i know it and im sure she does to]. The thing is other kids wrote a crappy respose and amazingly got the full 2 marks, i guess it all depends on the mood of the teacher at the time. On the same note~ its a kind of scary considering the prospect of the examiners marking the exams and the apparent mood they may be in. Anyways its all good i suppose. ::)

the exam gets marked by more than one person doesn't it?
or is that just for english

Yeah, it gets marked by two people and then the two scores out of 60 are joined together to give you one mark out of 120

For every subject, I think every exam is marked twice, although there may be cases where its only once. My bio midyear last year definitely got marked by two (hence my half mark). But still, even if its marked by two, every subjective mark lost is still well...HALF a mark lost..and that could add up eventually...It doesn't really fix the problem

When did you finish the course??

Other students at my school who got 50's in other subjects last year also did the same routine - created 3 different responses to the one question.. crazy, but I guess it pays off.

From the "VCE Exams Navigator":

Quote from: VCAA
Mathematics, Accounting, Biology, Chemistry and Physics examination papers are marked by a single marker because the marking is more objective (answers are more factual in nature)

but yeah there's probably certain cases where they'll have two assessors mark the exam.

Yeh, I read on the statement of marks that if you apply for one, they'll mark it twice...which is what got me confused over whether its one or two markers. Thanks for clearing that up. (Wonder if I gained half a mark or lost half a mark by applying for a statement of marks...something I'll never find out =P)

i think they get marked twice, and if the marks differ alot then they are marked a third time.
