My teacher advised I just write up a revision book to take in. You don't want to bring in stuff that's too thick, and speed is of the essence when you're trying to look something up.

I'm using 'Nelson' bound reference...it's one of those pre-prepared log books. It's got all the formulas etc you need and heaps of space to add your own notes.

Don't know if bringing a textbook in would be such a good idea..

Waaay too much information to sort through for the right stuff, and even then it's often in a different style question that the exam.

I think I'll be writing up a summary book thats fairly short(15-20 pages) but has all the stuff I'll need to quickly look at.

i'm using my own book of notes that i created throughout the year.
it has all the basics + examples of the most difficult questions that i could find. =]
IMO making up your own notes NOW would be a waste of time :S practice exams are better than creating one for revision

Yeah, but you get so much more from having to go through your notes / textbook and compiling a summary from it. You'd force information through your mind, so to speak.

Past exams are good for refining technique. Writing summaries are good for refining concepts.

Both are important in mathematical studies (in that order)

If you know your stuff very well, you probably wont even use the reference book, but then again it is important if you forget something. i reckon taking a exercise book with your own notes and practice exam questions will be of more benefit.
Most of the time, the textbook is just full of shit.

Yeah, I didn't open my exercise book in Methods or Specialist. I think I flicked through it during Specialist Exam 2, because I finished early (30 minutes), and was sort of bored.
