I wonder if I should buy a CAS calculator for spec next year, seeing that it gives an 'unfair advantage'?

If you've got the cash, i would.

Yeah... I bought my TI-89 Titanium second-hand, cost me $200. :)

I found on the internet somewhere how to define a function on it to make it do implicit differentiation

A program called "Calctools" (Calculus Tools) for the TI-89 does it, as well as other stuff. :)

so *thats* calculus tools.
I remember a lot of people 'needed' it last year, never bothered to find out what it was :P

Yeah, someone sent it to me and said that it was really useful...
I didn't actually end up using it :P

For the A and B values, I got the same A value, and then i had like, 149.6 degrees as another solution, so i said B = 180 - 149.6 = 30.4.

Luck? ^^

i doubt u would get a mark got 149degrees...its not possible...A and B must be from 0 to 90...but u will most likely get 3/4 for that qn

It wouldn't be pure luck, because then you wouldn't have gotten the right answer =P

If you looked at both situations (sliding to the left and sliding to the right) then it would be all good. If you only did one way, then yeah probably 3/4

Do you think they would care if for all the questions in that question, if you disregarded tension forces seeing as they cancled each other out? =P (except for that 1 mark one where you needed to find it). I like coupling things together, it's how I learnt how to do them first, none of this set up 2 equations for each box in the i and j direction and do 2x as working junk.

It's not luck. Cosine is negative while sine is positive in the 2nd quadrant. So you may not have realised it but that angle 'flips' the frictional force so it's up the incline. Whether you'll get full marks for it is another story..  :)

It was probably another silly mistake. You might still get a mark for it if the markers know where your coming from.
(It reminds me of a stupid mistake I made in Exam 2
oping for an ENTER of 99+

YEH i made an awful mistake in the question before

the simple non-friction incline plane, the sin angle needed for accel to be 0
i took the wrong tension!!

and what was answer to total distance travelled since being sighted to landing for the airplane?

and i think i lost 1 really stupid mark in the complex numbers section

5-6 marks off

SOLUTIONS UP

6-7 marks off!

awful on plane question i got 1926, it was 3000 odd
used position instaed of velocity for the angle, so lost 3-4 marks there, then 1 mark in complex, retarded and 1 mark in mechniacs and 1 multi choice

That's exactly why i did the 180 - theta.

I showed all working and calculations by the way.

Should get full marks ^^
