Reductant vs Oxidant - Galvanic help

Hello! Can someone please tell me if this makes sense? I've been trying to make sense to this whole gravimetric thing for the WHOLE day. >_<

Okay so,

Reductant - reduces (or causes reduction of) substances higher than itself (on the electrochemical series). It is oxidised (loses electrons)

Oxidant - oxidises (or causes oxidation of) substances lower than itself (on the electrochemical series). It is reduced (gains electrons)

So in the case of, say,

Cu(2+) + 2e --> Cu
Na+ + e --> Na

Na would be the reductant, which reduces Cu and it is oxidised?
Cu would be the oxidant, oxidising Na. It is then reduced?

I reallyyy hope this is right.  ???

Oh for Chem 08'ers, are you guys gonna bother memorizing the battery equations? They're suuuch a pain.

This is all correct except the part in red. You have to be specific. It isn't Cu that gets reduced. It is that gets reduced to form Cu.

Why "Gravimetric?" Wasnt that Unit 3 Stuff? Or am I missing something? :)

I'm not going to bother memorising it because they will give you the equations on the exam. All you need to do is know how to manipulate the equations when recharging and discharging.

Yeah sorry I might have called it the wrong thing. Maybe I meant Galvanic. :(
