Explain to me this, what matters more, SAC marks or ranking in school?

For instance, say if one was ranked 8th in the class, but SAC marks were like 98%, how will that play out on the Study Score? Will the high score be irrelavent because you were 8th?

This isn't an actual scenario of course, I'm just mega-confused about how the hell Study Score works :P

I think it's ranking that's more important...

Don't worry too much though ^_^ just do your best

That's kinda like an actual scenario for me :P
In Maths Methods, even though I got 94/100 overall for SACs, my ranking isn't that high (too many smart people getting 100% on every SAC, whereas I usually make some small mistakes  ).

So will I be disadvantaged because of all the smart people that had a higher SAC ranking than me?

Yep, I'm not worrying about it any more... I tried my best, and whatever happens happens. If I get a high enough ENTER score to get into Melbourne University, I'll be really happy. Otherwise, I'll be fine going to another Uni (eg. Swinburne has a course that I'd like to do, and the ENTER required is only like 74. I can definitely get that :P)
Estimate your ATAR (ENTER)! VCE ATAR Calculator

2005: Cisco CCNA Units 1+2
2006: Info Systems [39 → 36.93]
2007: Specialist [33 → 43.13], Methods [39 → 44.48], Physics [34 → 37.38], English [23 → 19.91], Chem [26]
ENTER: 84.95

2008-2011: Professional Software Development, Swinburne Uni.

ah i'm not worried at all :) i haven't even chosen proper preferences yet, and the ones i chucked in in the first round didn't consider enters :D

not really fussed about the enter really, once i figure out what i want to do i'll figure out a way to get there.

Good to hear :)

I'm not worried anymore, I know I've tried, and whatever I get, I'll accept, and just move on :) Whether its what I wanted or not, it's not the end of the world lol, it's only vce =] Remember where theres a will theres a way, so if you dont get into the course you wanted, you can always find another one, or enter something similar and transfer =]

I just wanted to know what a rank of first in a study from your schools cohort does to your Methods score?

Luckily, this year I managed NOT to make stupid and silly errors in my SACs which gave me the top rank at a good school.

However, sadly under examination pressure silly mistakes(   ) lead to a reduction in my methods 'spree'.

My current range is (113-117)/120 across the 2 papers(depending on how the examiners FEEL like marking me on that day/midnight...). I am pretty relieved I did not make more SILLY mistakes, but disappointed that I couldn't cap off a good year of Methods.

Hoping for the best(We will all know how we went in a month's time.). I am just hoping the majority of the state stuffed up and lots of smart people somehow made silly mistakes as well.

Nervous
oping for an ENTER of 99+

Being rank 1 is very very good as far as you're concerned.

I was very similar to you. Now, I don't know the exact information of everyone in my methods class last year (there were 13 of us in CAS), but from what I know:
I was rank 1
I made silly mistakes in exam one (36/40 :K I thought I'd only lose 2 but I guess I was wrong =P)
Over both exams I lost 5 marks
I got the highest study score in my class I know of, despite the fact some people only lost 4 marks over both exams.

Also, try not to think about it too much.
