Pffft... 'sif nobody reads my long introduction :P

And to add to it:
I'm lazy and waste too much time on the computer :P
And yeah
That's me. =]

Hehe :P
There's lots of us people that waste time on the computer. But I'm worse than most >_<
Like, rather than doing homework on the weekends (like everyone else seems to do), I use my computer. How I still get good marks, I have no idea :P

Although, I enjoy coding and chatting to people rather than playing games. I guess that makes me different to most people that waste time on computers :P

And, uh, I wasted time typing out a long introduction about myself:
Quote from: "Daniel15"
Hi everyone, I'm Daniel :D
Time for a short introduction I suppose...
Edit: OK, this didn't end up that short. I just dumped everything I could mention about myself here >_<

Year 12 at Northcote High School.
My subjects:
2005: Cisco CCNA Units 1+2
2006: Information Systems [study score of 39]
2007: Specialist Maths, Maths Methods, Physics, English, Chemistry.

Seems like I'm younger than most people - I turned 17 this year (my birthday is 1st June 1990).
I can get good scores without studying... somehow. I still don't understand how I do it.  :shock:

Single at the moment...  :roll:
Generally a boring person :P
Incredibly random and childish at times.
Probably the only guy that uses proper English on MSN.
Suck at writing essays.
Stuff I write is sometimes very incoherent :P
I have a lot of close friends who are younger than me. People think I'm weird because of that  :x
People say I'm awesome :P
I'm shy but like making new friends.
I respects people for who they are.
I care about people; I'm someone you can talk to if you're upset. =]

I'm a PHP programmer and website designer (XHTML/CSS). Although, calling me a "designer" is a bit of a stretch; I'm more of a coding person.
I'm on the Simple Machines Forum team :) *cough*phpBB sucks *cough*
I run a few websites (see www.daniel15.net). I'm a server admin, I have my own dedicated server (Debian Linux FTW!) and additionally help run a few web hosts.

And yeah, add me on MySpace or something if you want to know more :D
MySpace: http://myspace.com/daniel_1515
Facebook: http://c.zurl.ws/daniel15_facebook
MSN: msn -[at]- daniel15.com (chat to meee! :D :D)
I've got accounts on other social networking sites but don't use them that often. Check www.daniel15.net for that =]

I read BoS, but never posted because it was so slow.

I never understood why that site was so slow :P

I've programmed lots, only my programming is of a different nature to yours Daniel. Glad to see another programmer though ^^

Stuff like, http://projecteuler.net/ As well as anything I deem interesting, such as a chess engine, fractal creator, space simulator, neural network etc.

Heh cool, I'll try some of those challenges after exams.

Seeing as how mathy type coding probably requires it, do you have any idea where to get started on /properly/ learning how to program using graph theory (nodelists, vertices, edges, and all that)? I can't really find a way to get into that level abstraction; most of my experience has been hackery as opposed to what you would learn in a computer science course, i suppose.

Not really sure. Most of the problems on that site simply require intelligence. You don't need high level techniques to solve most problems, although some do get mathy, but I guess that's expected, it is computer science after all. However, if I needed to use Dijkstra's algorithm I'd just look it up on wikipedia for example.

"Found 88 users whose preferred programming language is Pencil/Paper."
I'd assume that's not the best way to do it =/

What can you learn that I can do with firefox and notepad? =D

Haha I'm not really sure.

Some of the problems can be solved through intelligent mathematical arguments, instead of less ingenius brute-force methods. However, most of the problems require some programming =)

I used to wake up early in the morning (usually 4 am) when problems were released to make sure I was ranked in the top few... but year 12 made that difficult. So I haven't done much since last year.  :mrgreen:

Correct Congratulations, the answer you gave to problem 1 is correct.

That was with whatever openoffice equivilant of excel is called and when I did the 5 column, deleting every third one xD

Find the largest prime factor of 317584931803.
That one I could type in my calculator if it didn't have dead batteries (should fix that soon)

Seriously for the rest of them, how do you start?
What is there that is freeeeeee on the interwebs?

Edit - Congratulations, the answer you gave to problem 6 is correct. :)

Well, just did challenge 2.
Code: [Select]
int z = 2;
int x = 1, y = 2;
do {
int iSum = x + y;
if((iSum % 2) == 0)
z += iSum;
x = y;
x = iSum;
} while(y < 1000000);
System.out.println(z);

I become ashamed when I see myself coding like this, so much inefficiency =\. I should prolly try a little harder and find a way to solve this without stacking new variables lol. Lack the intelligence to realise efficiencies myself, but don't want to look at optimizations on Wikipedia ... what to do?

... I'll stop trying :(.
