alrighty so for english i am aiming for 40+, ive been averaging a+'s throughout the year, but yesterday i got my final sac back and i got 44/50, and i cried. and that sounds so stupid, that i cried. i know an a is awesome, but im just THAT paranoid that i wont get a 40 for the subject. i'm just aiming for an a for the exam, but now im paranoid ill have a terrible day and stuff up. so basically im sorta going crazy, haha, but my question is, worst case scenario, i got b+/b for exam, could i still get a 40? this happened with my friend in lit last year, she averaged 94% then got a b+ on the exam and her study score was 40, but would it be different with english expression?

B+/B on the exam will not get you a 40 unless your moderated SAC score is almost near perfect.
A B+/B on the exam with your SAC scores might get you a 32-38.

You do realise that your actual SAC scores don't matter, just your ranking.

I was wondering....if I was to get B+ in the SACs, what do people think I need in the exam to get 40, and what do I need to get 45? I'm assuming it would have to be near perfect to get 45, but would a low-medium A+ get 40?

Yes, you would need around a low-medium A+ to get 40.

I'm on the same boat as you. I've been doing consistantly well until my last sac which I got 43/50 on (worse thing is that I saw it was 45 before it got cross marked...devastated.) So now i'm at 182/200. I'm not too worried though because I think i've still maintained by number 1 ranking (or no 2 at least) in the cohort, but i'm so scared that I won't even get 40. I don't think i'll forgive myself if I get below 45 though because it's the one subject I really care about. Good luck to you!

What do you mean? Given a constant ranking, actual SAC scores do not matter.

In terms of closeness in rankings then it does.

Ie. Mao is ranked no.1 in is it spesh?... but the next person behind him is getting C+'s or whatever.

Hmmm well a B or B+ in the exam is definately not going to get you 40+ regardless of your SAC score and ranking.

But remember even if you get 7/10 for each section, that was enough for an A on last years paper.

But it is not easy at all to get 7/10 for each, where if you go by last year, you would be in the top 16% of the state and an 8/10 for each would put you in the top 7%. And you can't forget the median of C+, you would need a 5/10, 5/10 and a 6/10.

I don't consider myself good at English, but a 7 doesn't seem unachievable. My teacher, who marks the VCAA exams, has marked my practice exams and I've been scoring around 6-7 for each section. She said she's marking like she would for the final.

Also, I think for english theres a large amount of people who simply do not give a shit and have given up. Moreso than other subjects, because you must do it(assuming you don't pick englang/lit) and it isn't particularly interesting or easy(for most). Therefore, statistics are likely to appear slanted because of a larger percentage of people who don't care and score lower.

Could be wrong however.

You are right, a 7 isn't all that hard if you try, however you need to study the texts alot to make sure you will be able to preform to a 7/10 standard or better in the exam.

I see many people in my class who just don't care at all, mainly because they don't want a high ENTER at all like some of us do. It is annoying when I'm in class trying to write an essay and everyone is talking, and not softly. I usually ask to go to the library but sometimes it is a total waste of time.

I'm going to repeat it because I haven't really tried this year, only for a bit of unit 4.
For unit 3 I ended up with 68/100- I never really tried
For unit 4 -83/100
I got 42/50 for my look both ways SAC (could have been 45+ if i tried harder), 2  9/10's for my context-conflict essays, and a 23/30 for my conflict catalogue/scrapbook- My teacher told me at the start of the year it was out of 10 so I never really tried.

If in the case where I get say an A+ for the exam, or anything that would get me a 37+, I might consider not doing it next year, however at this point I will be taking it next year. But of course I don't know how well I will go on the exam.

I am trying to create a generic Intro to my context essay and make it really stand out to try and maximise my score. I had a little trouble with language analysis, but recently, when studying for exam in class, my teacher went through it with me and I feel confident that I can get 6+/10 for it.

The course I want to do is a Bachelor of Science at Monash that requires a 75 ENTER, which I would definitely be happy to get into, however I would like to see whether I can get a 95.5 to get into the Advanced with Honors course. It doesn't matter if I don't get a 95.5 and don't get into that course, I am just aiming for something that I think if I work hard I can achieve. There is no point in aiming for a 75 when I know I can easily get much much higher.
