Why don't they accept more people? Is it only Monash that offers interviews?

Yeh, unfortuately it does

They only do 500 interviews now, but monash med was a top 3 preference on 4500 applications so they are very hard to come by

u can do science or biomedical science then sit the gamsat and try get into postgraduate medicine at monash gippsland.

i missed out on interview by 2 points for monash and didnt apply anywhere else (needed 61 but got 59) so im planning on doing biomed at melb for 3 years then gamsat and doing postgrad med at melb or interstate. i think ill have more luck with gamsat than umat and the course at melb will likely be more solid than whats currently offered at monash.
When you say 'more solid' is that because overall the melbourne course is two years longer or because of specific subjects/options in the melb course that do not exist at monash?

ENTER 99.90

Hopeless in practical situations?

We learn clinical skills from day one

Melbourne kids are lucky to have given a patient an injection until year 3

Besides all medical courses are AMA accredited, so no graduated student, of any university is likely to be hopeless

The course is no more "solid" than any other in the country really, each course has a different focus, but you're gonna come ou of it with the same qualifications

I thought post-grad med would have even less practical experience o.O The undergrad biomed is purely theory isn't it? Then once you move on to the post-grad course, it's even shorter than the usual course, and guess where the lost years come from? Practical. Feel free to challenge this though; this is just what I remember from the top of my head/first impressions. I haven't done much research.
